A Tribute to Louise Graves Parker

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Louise Parker. Louise was a very active member of All Stars Quilt Guild. She served as the Editor of the Gazette for two years and was so giving with her knowledge of quilting. We are all going to miss the hum of her wheel chair and her testimony that no illness was going to get her down. There was such a spark in her life that made being around her a joy. Did you know that Louise was the captain of her High School Basketball Team and also had leading rolls in High School plays? She spent her lifetime in Yulee and had been married to Harold Parker for 48 years. She had four children, not just Julie, and nine grandchildren. She took up clogging in her 50’s and was the founder and queen mother of the Ladies with the Red Hattitude of Yulee. From a very early age to her last days the sewing machine was ever present in her life. She learned to sew and quilt on her grandmother and mother’s knee. She was an expert seamstress all her life and even reconstructed her own wedding dress for her daughter to be married in. We can all testify to her ability to quilt because of the many quilts she has shared with us over the years. We will all miss Louise Parker but are very thankful of her love for quilting and the legacy she has left to all of us. If any would like to make a memorial: Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257 or the Yulee United Methodist Church Youth Fund PO Box 127, Yulee, Florida 3204l
