Beta Alpha Members participate in the Joint Broward Chapters Founders' Day Meeting and Installation Ceremony of New Chapter Officers for the 2012-2014 biennium. Congratulations for our elected officers in Beta Alpha. Myrna Santos, President, Kathy Henderson, Vice President, Jane Barcelo Recording Secretary, Elaine Burns, Corresponding Secretary, and Marti Mc Lean, District V Director.


District V had an awesome meeting on Saturday, April 28, 2012 under the coordination of Director, Elizabeth Decker and Beta Alpha members were part of her committee for success. Betty Bunnell lead us in song, Mary Cavaioli invited, Kristin Jacobs, Broward County Commissioner, running for the US House of Representatives, who spoke to us on women's issues during lunch and Mary's students provided the wonderful table centerpieces for the luncheon too. Sally Finley created our grand raffle basket from all of our member donations, and Peg Dunn-Snow created our chapter poster and had the privilege of formally nominating our own Marti McLean as the candidate for the position of 2012- 2014 District V Director. In attendance were Betty, Mary, Marti, Barbara Belyeu, and Peg. Beta Alpha Members are the Best!

Beta Alpha Celebrates its 50th Birthday

Beta Alpha Chapter turns 50 this year. Our annual Beta Alpha Birthday Meeting was celebrated on March 31, 2012 at the home of Kathy Henderson. This year the party theme was celebrating your heritage and members brought a special family dish to share at the meeting.

Beta Alpha Members enjoyed their annual Christmas, Hanukkah, Holiday Meeting this year at the home of Beta Alpha Chapter President, Dr. Peg Dunn-Snow on December 5, 2011. Thanks goes to Marti McLean for providing our sing-a-long with props and our Chinese Auction Gift Exchange was very lively this year. Fun and fellowship was enjoyed by all. The funds collected from our Holiday raffle basket this year were earmarked to support the International World Fellowship Fund. Thanks to Sally Finley for again creating an amazing basket. Unwrapped toys and storybooks were also collected in support of Toys for Tots and our chapter literacy project.

Beta Alpha was the host chapter for the annual Broward Chapters' Joint Initiation Breakfast on September 3, 2011. Lenora Walkes and Dr. Sonia Rodriguez were among the 13 new initiates in Broward County.

Kudos to all the Beta Alpha members for the Breakfast Planning Committee. It was a team effort. Thank you all for your talents that you brought to the meeting: Susan, Nancy, Sally, Judy, Mary, Myrna,Jane, Peg, and Betty.

Our last meeting this year was held at the home of our gracious host, Judy Zelinski We officially initiated Jeri Jo Florez , we played our own version of Jeopardy, thanks to Nancy Wengren, as we learned more about the 12 women who were the founders of DKG , and we conducted a productive final business meeting of the year. We ended the evening with a great game of BUNCO that was organized by our host. Of course, throughout the evening we ate lots of great food. For those of you who could not join us you were missed.
