A youth was questioning a lonely old man,
What is life's heaviest burden?
The old man answered sadly,
To have nothing to carry.

There is an old Cherokee saying that the world is full of stories, and from time to time they permit themselves to be told. Come let us share stories.

DRUMMING (Mixed, Women's and Men's)- Call Sky Dancer at 727/343-4638 for directions in St. Petersburg or Tampa. These drumming may be held on the back porch or outside depending on the weather. Bring food to share, drums and rattles and something to sit on.

Come Play with Us!

May your moccasins leave tracks
On many mounds of worth,
and walk with chiefs of every tribe
Who live in peace on earth.

I pledge allegiance to my own sense of honor, as a citizen of this country, this world and an individual of conscience. I will work within my capabilities to set a good example, help those less fortunate when I can and seek the truth in all things so that when I die, I can do so with pride looking back on a life well-led. I pledge this not for patriotism, not for religious leanings, and not through coercion by family, peers, society, educational or legal systems, but because as an intelligent human being I choose to dedicate my words and actions to personal principle and steadfastness.

- Many Ponies

Indian blood is like gold, no matter how thinly it is stretched, it shines just as brightly.

Come Join Us!

If you talk to the animals they will talk with you and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them you will not know them, and what you do not know you will fear. What one fears one destroys.
- Chief Dan George

Coyote Moon
As the moon casts it's soft light over us

It's whispered message appeared written across sacred indian winds.

Oh Moon to guide us... Moon from which to lament, sing your song of sadness intent.

For we of Sleeping Sun Kingdom devour the fire of late afternoon.

and like coyotes fat on death...

escape into the unattended animal night, laughing.

- Thom Douglas Carliste

O Great Spirit of our souls, burning in our heart's yearning and in our innermost aspirations, speak to us now and always so that we may be aware of the greatness and goodness of Your gift of life and be worthy of this priceless privilege of living.

Grandmother Moon calls to us... calls to us to sit together in Ceremony,
sit in a full, round circle not unlike her sweet face,
sit together and chant and drum, pray and share, laugh and cry.
Come sit with us your Sisters. We miss you.

A friend is someone who know the song in your heart
and can sing it back to you when
you have forgotten the words.

My Friend...
You have given me courage,
That was not there...
You have given laughter,
That I can share...
You have given me feelings,
That are deep and true...
For that my friend
I will always love you...

Anisoquili (Many Ponies)
Keeper of the Lodge

Did you know that one of Many Ponies kinfolk was 'Roy Rogers'? He was related to her through her Womack/Puckett line (the Womacks and Pucketts married back and forth in the 1800s... Many Ponies' paternal grandmother was Minnie Hayes Puckett). Mattie Womack was born March 1882 in Kentucky (died 3 Nov. 1958 in California) and she married Andrew E. Slye. They had the following children: Mary Elizabeth, Cleda Mae, Leonard Frank (a.k.a., Roy Rogers), and Kathleen Slye.

Leonard (Roy Rogers) was b. 5 Nov. 1911 in Cincinnati, Ohio married Frances (Dale Evans) Octavia Smith. See any family resemblance? (Yeah, yeah... I know. I look more like Trigger right? LOL!)

It is not blood that makes an Native American
It is the soul.
Too many... with fire of Native blood... walk ignored.
Do not say I am Apache or Kickapoo,
Do not say I am Sioux or Cherokee,
Say.... I am of the Mother Tribe.
This is the pain of our children,
To return from the stars without a home or community,
A tribe lost returns... scattered in the wind.
Those who hear must unite and reap the seed of this return.
ONE tribe...ONE Earth...ONE Heart...ONE People.
Those with ears must build a fire and give thanks this night.
Be united with ONE soul.
Oh, my Children come home
Teachers step forward without fear
You are real.

THE MAGIC OF DRUMMING CIRCLES

People from many different backgrounds are getting together to create connections through the sheer joy of drum rhythms. Drumming circles are the ultimate stress reducer, the prozac of the natural world if you will. It is a time for everyone to get together and just be. Natural biochemicals in the body are released which help boost the immune system, among other things. Inner chatter is instantly quieted, and a peaceful meditative state is often the result, as the drum connects with your own heartbeat. Adults re-learn how to play and have fun because remember, the drum is the ear of the Great Mystery. Peace on earth becomes a reality.
