The Dr. Phillip's Colorguard is organized into squads and sectionals and that organization varies by season.

For information on who is on what squad and in what sectional for each of the seasons, see below.

Auditions for the squads and sections are held at the beginning of each season. The following describes the skills that a candidate needs to master in order to be considered for each of the sections:

Flag (prerequisite for weapon -- rifle and sabre):

• Mastery of planes on flag
• SOLID flag skills
• Timing

Rifle Line

• Mastery of basic flag skills (see above)
• Minimum of a triple on rifle
• Basic understanding of dance
• 100 spins on right and left
• Priority is placed on technique, dedication to the team and to individual practice

Sabre Line

• Mastery of basic flag skills and working intermediate skills on flag
• Rifle Quad and Five
• More advanced dance skills, movement training and flexibility
• Strong desire to master skills and tosses
• Strong dedication to the team, an independent learner and focused work ethic
• Generally speaking, sabres are students who have spun at least one year on field and winterguard, have strong technique on flag and rifle, and have a high level of responsibility.
