Our Past Soirees
"Soiree" is French for - Ya'll come have something to eat. Golden China Resturant was the gathering place for the March (2005) luncheon. What a great time we had. There were 31 ladies present for the Chinese buffet. Lots of wonderful food, funny conversation and a lesson on "Language Of The Fan". How to convey signals with a fan, like - "I'm Available", "Follow Me", "Do Not Betray Our Secret" and "I Love You". It was determined that Our Queen can not move her hands unless her hips move as well. Thank You to Suzie Powell for the fan lesson. In February (2005) the Hatters met for lunch at Sisters Tea Room in Orange Park. The Tea Room is a lovely little resturant where the servers wear old fashion aprons and all the food is made fresh every day. They have the most wonderful chicken salad and fabulous homemade desserts. The Hummingbird cake is "to die for". There were 40 Red and Pink Hatter in attendance. We had lots of door prizes and a great time chatting with other Hatters. January (2005)was our first luncheon of the new year and what a turn-out. There were 43 Red Hatters in one room. Variety was the spice of life - not one Red Hat outfit nor hat was duplicated. The luncheon was held at the American Cafe in Mandarin. They accommodated us by providing a room just for us. And you should have seen the large desserts. Those Red Hatters will be hatting it to the treadmill. In November (2004) the Queen had her annual "Tea" at her home. Due to limited space, only the first to sign up were able to attend. There was wonderful food, and the ladies had the opportunity to practice being crafty. Crafts included making Red Hat Snow Ladies and Snow Mates (Snowmen). You will want to make plans now to attend this years "Tea".
