Who We Are 

Family Support Services is the lead agency delivering foster care services to children and families throughout Duval County Florida.

 
Unique Features of our Community Based Care System
Children and families receive services in familiar neighborhoods. Natural helping networks are engaged to support families. Neighborhoods increase primary and secondary prevention efforts through neighborhood networks. Common assessment and planning process. Strength-based/resource-based service plans. Informal support for families. Foster family support networks.

  • That children grow up connected to their own families, supported by families and protected by the community.

  • That children have the opportunity to achieve in school and to learn to be productive citizens.

  • That Duval County citizens, organizations and agencies recognize that child protection is a community responsibility and represents the best interests of all County residents.
    		•   Neighborhood Service Centers
    Child protective services for children and their families are delivered within neighborhoods at a neighborhood service center contracted by Family Support Services of North Florida to provide, develop and support services within a designated catchment area of cases.

    Service center providers are non-profit agencies, some of which have been serving children and families in Jacksonville for over 50 years.

    The mission of Family Support Services of North Florida, Inc. is to provide for the safety and stability of children and families by strengthening the child protection system and involving neighborhood networks to ensure success.
