January 15th Slaithwaite home UNDER 11s HOYLAND VIKINGS 32 V SLAITHWAITE SARACENS 20

Heppenstall opened the scoring and bagged 4 tries in all, Shaw scored 1try and was awarded man of the match with a very good tackling display, Keiron Dyson added another try. Encouraging performances from subs Ross Harrison and Paul MaCaleavey the former almost notching his first try but was bundled into touch metres short of the try line.
Hoyland have earned themselves a mid season promotion for there efforts this season, and will play against higher quality teams from next week. Slaithwaite also promoted made a real game of it and never gave in despite constant pressure from Hoyland. The reverse fixture next week should be a very close game. January 22nd V...SLAITHWAITE...HOME HOYLAND VIKINGS 44 V SLAITHWAITE 30
UNDER 11s January 22nd

Hoyland should have won the game by half time but poor defence allowed Slaithwaite to keep in the game.
The only flaw at the moment appears to be slack defence when in control of the game.

January 29th V...ELLAND...AWAY 28th January ELLAND 20 HOYLAND VIKINGS 20

The freezing tempurature dampened the boys spirits but both teams tried hard and produced some encouraging moments.
solid tackling performances by Zak Shaw and George Moore who gained the man of the match award with his performance.
Corey Ireland was almost unstoppable and ran in 3 tries. The Elland team played really well and were very impressive when defending, almost halting the hoyland team at one stage.

overall a below par performance but under the conditions of lending out players and playing under strentgh, Hoyland coped quite well and will look forward to their home fixture with Elland in March.
