Another name for pink hatters is Ladies in Waiting. They are waiting to turn 50 and enjoy that phase of their life and they begin that part of their life with a red-u-ation ceremony. This is a cermony that occurs as near to that 50th birthday as possible. It is a humorous fun ceremony where the birthday gal gives up her pink hat and replaces it with a red one. Some chapters hand down the pink hats to other members and one chapter even have a ceremony of burning the pink hat. I personally think that is a waste of a good hat so hopefully we will save the pink hat for guests or to be handed down.

With Easter just around the corner, keep your eyes peeled for pink hats and lavender clothing. Now is the time.
