1. Discussions continue regarding modifications to the Veterans’ Memorial Park. The gazebo will be demolished as to costly to upgrade.....Anticipate the Vietnam Memorial from downtown Bradenton will soon be relocated to the Park. Comments were made that our Park would be a fine site for the Iwo Jima Memorial. Watch the local media for details.
2. Veterans' Day 2013...Monday 11 November. Council consensus to return to Palmetto; Chairman Courtney discussing with city officials, etc.

Lee Washington advised the vacant position in his office was filled by Melissa Sparks. Will bring her to the August meeting. That VA set a goal of getting 22 homeless vets resettled by partnering with local Vet groups. Leslie Loveless is collecting toiletries, clothing, & soaps............call 955-8987 extension 100.

Jerry Neff advised the Florida Veterans Foundation has taken over the responsibility for the Veterans' Hall of Fame. And Excelsior College recently dedicated the Lt Col. Bryant A. Murray Center.....available to anyone. Online, Excelsior.edu.
Jim Kissick shared that he was on the deck of the USS Yorktown at the same time of the raising of the US Flag on Mt. Surubachi and watched the action through some hi-powered binoculars.
