Welcome to the web site for the Naples Model Yacht Club (NMYC).
In it, you'll not only find where and when we sail but also find many links to useful information about sailing model yachts.

NMYC is among the largest of the clubs in the American Model Yacht Association (AMYA). We are club #108, established in 1982. We have over 70 members--most of whom participate in the winter migration of "snowbirds". Our snowbird members come from the midwest, northeast and Canada. However, almost 50% are year-rounders

I enjoy the distinction of being the Commodore of two NMYCs--the second is the Novi Model Yacht Club. Novi is a Detroit suburb. Naples is the largest club in the AMYA and Novi (club #300, established in 2010) is probably the smallest with 5 members. The Novi club sails Soling One Meters (S1Ms) on Thursday mornings from May to October--or until the water gets hard.

The Naples membership is made up mostly of snowbirds. The highlight of our year is the winter series of "counted" races. Each of our 5 classes (S1M, EC12, SeaWind, 36/600, and Micro Magic) race 8 weeks, 12 races per week (weather permitting). Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd are awarded in each class. Because we have 2 fleets of S1M sailors, we have a Soling Club Championship Regatta to close the season.
Our annual meeting, which includes the election of officers, takes place in March.
If you participate in our club activities, you'll find a great group of sailors willing to offer a helping hand.

We are sailing SeaWind, Soling 1 Meter, EC 12, 36/600 and Micro Magic.
We sail at the Vineyards Pond, behind the Physicians Regional Hospital-Pine Ridge (was Cleveland Clinic) and also at Village Walk just west of I/75 on Vanderbilt Beach Rd.
