The Italian flag, vertically divided into three equal sections: green, white and red, which represent, symbolically, the three cardinal virtues: Green = Hope; White = Faith; Red = Charity

The Creed of the Order Sons of Italy In America

    WE believe in the government of the United States of America, the government of the people, by the people, and for the people and to obey and uphold it's constitution and laws.

    WE believe in government by orderly process and reject any doctrine that tends to subvert constituted government and authority.

    WE believe in filial affection and respect for the land our forefathers whose heritage is our highest contribution to America's progress.

    WE believe in the brotherhood of man and promise to assist our fellow members, to care for the orphans, to extend our helping hand to the widows and comfort those in distress

    WE believe in equal rights and duties for all; in equally of opportunity in the enjoyment of the benefits of human association extended to all without discrimination.

    WE believe in the freedom of thought, conscience, and education and stand for individual liberty in the performance of duties and in the exercise of rights under the constitutionand laws of our country and state.

    WE believe in the future progress and expansion of the Order Sons of Italy in America as the beneficial agent of all Americans of Italian birth or descent for their recognition and welfare, and promise to contribute to the moral, intellectual, and material progress of our fellow members, and to support the programs of The Order and all its activities for the welfare of our country, our Order, and community in which we live. !

    Order Sons of Italy in America is the world’s largest and longest-established organization representing Italian American men and women

    Established in 1905, OSIA has more than 600,000 members and supporters and a network of more than 700 chapters coast to coast. It is the largest and oldest national organization for people of Italian descent in the country. OSIA works at the community, national and international level to promote the heritage and culture of an estimated 26 million Italian Americans, the nation's fifth largest ethnic group, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

    The Brevard County branch of the ORDER SONS OF ITALY IN AMERICA is the Palm Bay Lodge.

    Our lodge is relatively new but the Order celebrated their 100th anniversary in June 2005.

    We have over 700 lodges in the United States and Canada.

    Florida has 42 lodges and a Grand Lodge.

    We are inviting you to join our lodge and the ORDER SONS OF ITALY IN AMERICA.

    Your membership will support the many purposes of the Palm Bay Lodge as well as the Florida Grand Lodge

Members of the Palm Bay Lodge #2823 are reaching out to all those Italian Americans who are interested in promoting their Italian heritage, Italian Family values and Italian traditions.   BUNCO PARTY
The Lodge Bunco Party on March 12th at the Greater Palm Bay Senior Center was a great sucess. Everyone had a good time and their where door prizes won.The two basket were raffled off.The 50/ 50 was $98.00. Prizes where presented to Most Games,Most Bunco and least games. Many comment about when the next Bunco would be. Thanks to the Bunco Comitee.
 
RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Italian Nut-Filled "sticks" (SFRATTI)

Pastery 3 cups bleached all-purpose flour, sifted
1 cup Sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 Cup unsalted Butter
2/3 cup sweet or dry Wine
FILLING 1 cup (12 Oz) honey
2 1/2 chopped walnuts
2 teaspoon orange zest
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon grated black pepper
Egg Wash( 1 Large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water.
To Make Pastery Combine the flour,sugar,salt,Cut in butter.Sprinkle a little wine over flour,mix with a fork.add wine until dough just holds together.Knead into ball.
Flatten&wrap . Refrigerate for 1 hour or upto 3 days. Making Filling. In medium sauce pan heat honey to a boil.
Add remaing filing ingredients and cook for 5 min.
Remove from heat aloow mixture to cool.
Divide filling into 14" sticks. Preheat Oven to 350. Line large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll dough in to 14 x12 rectangles. place a nut strip near the doughand roll up.Cut into 2" sticks using egg waash.
Place Cut side down about one inch between. Bake for 20 miniutes. Makes about 40 2 " cookies

To organize and establish benevolent and social welfare institutions for the protection and assistance of our members, their dependents, and in general the needy, with such material aid as we are able to give. G. To initiate and organize movements for patriotic and humanitarian purposes, and to join in meritorious movements for such purposes which other organizations or groups have initiated
