NARCH CHAMPIONS!                                                          The 12U BOYZ made it three for three this season by winning the recent NARCH regional held at the cooler in Atlanta GA. This win earns the team a Platinum seed at the prestigious NARCH NATIONALS to be held later this year in Cincinnati, Ohio. This team is really starting to come together. Derek Mayo, Ryan Carpenter and Cody Bagamary were all over the ice making big plays on the offensive end. All three did a fantastic job of back-checking to help the defense as well. The three of them continue to have the crowd oohing and aahhing with their pinpoint passing and scoring.

This was a coming out party for first time roller hockey player Max Mackay. Max really came into his own this weekend and showed the talent that makes him a top-notch ice player.

On the defensive end David Ripple was his steady self as always. David also has the knack to pick his spots and shoot down the middle to put the puck in the net. He did just that at a couple of crucial spots to solidify our wins.

Shea Gomes used his teambest speed to thwart many opposition chances and frustate the other teams. When Shea gets moving it can be near impossible to catch him.

Casey Davis continues to try to rip the back of the net off with his huge slapshot. He scored several goals with the thunder that the goalies had no chance on. (Must be all that ab work he is doing in the gym). His passing and positioning have really become impressive as well.

Two big additions to the team have now solidified the Phatboyz spot as one of the top 12U teams in the country. Joining us for the first time this year was Nick Booth and Nick DeWitt.

Mr Booth was fresh in from a 15 hour drive from Texas. Nick was all over the rink and outworked the opposition with his quick stops and changes of direction. He plays full speed at all times and is going to be a huge part of this team.

Nick DeWitt joins us from the Clermont Blaze. Nick is now the biggest player on the team and gives us the physical presence that we have been lacking. He also possesses a slapshot that no goalie wants to see heanding his way. Nick will be a big part of the Phatboyz success this year.

Tommy Futch was solid between the pipes all weekend and came up with some huge saves. When Tommy is focused and plays proactively he is tough to beat.

A big thanks goes out to our "goalie coach" MATT SMYTH.

Coming out of retirement this weekend was Greg Terrell to bang in a couple of goals and to mix it up in front of the net.

PLAYING UP IN 14U

The BOYZ also played in the 14U division at the NARCH tournament. We added true Pee Wees Matt Smyth, Kevin Terrell and Kyle Harmer and let the other Squirts play up. The effort was outstanding and the team took second place losing in the final to the Georgia Bulldogs in overtime 5-4.

Matt was phenomenal, (and pretty darned good too), in the effort. He played on the defensive end and was a true floor general in each game. He was awarded the outstanding player of the division for his efforts.

Kevin fit right in and was a force on the offensive end. His lefthanded stick brought a different dimension to the offense.

Kyle was incredible in goal making some unbelievable saves. He took home the top goalie award for the division. Mr. Smyth's game inspired the rest of the 12's as they all took it to another level. Each of them put out one of the best efforts we have seen yet. After 10 games in two days there were some very tired Phatboyz headed back to Florida. The trip was made easier knowing that each were taking back a first place as well as a runner-up medal.
