QUOTA BEARS

Member, Darlene Vlazny (left) presents Quota the Bear to City of Plantation Mayor Rae Carole Armstrong (middle) to the representative from the Plantation Fire Department at the October 28, 2008 Plantation City Counsel Meeting

When a child is in a traumatic situation, what better friend to have than Quota the Bear? Who is Quota the Bear? He's a cuddly little teddy bear given to children who find themselves in traumatic situations. So many times police or firemen are the first ones on the scene of an accident or called to a home where there is domestic voilence. Children involved are frightened and upset. The gift of a teddy bear from the first responders can mean the difference of feeling totally alone or having a little friend to hug while "all the other stuff" is going on.Almost ready to go home from Plantation General Hospital, Quota bears bring a big smile to this little gal's face

Quota International of Plantation gives these special bears to the Plantation Police Department for the road patrol officers and firemen to give to children during these times of crisis in their lives.

NEWBORN BABY PROJECT

In 2006 Quota International of Plantation began a new project -- giving gift packages to new mothers who cannot afford an outfit to dress their babies when they leave the hospital. Items in each package will include a soft hand-made receiving blanket, a Quota bear, an outfit, booties, a washcloth, and a pacifier.

Michelle Knaub of Plantation General Hospital writes: "Thanks so much for the baskets. They have brought a smile to all the mothers who have received them. Your group is truly performing a wonderful service to the community. Have a great day."

In 2007, Hollywood Memorial Hospital babies also began to receive these welcome baskets. They, too, have found this program to be a delightful surprise for new moms and their newborns.

This 25-year old mom now has an outfit to take her baby home in!

QUOTA AND THE PANTRY OF BROWARD

Quota of Plantation collects canned food that is then donated to The Pantry of Broward. The Pantry of Broward helps feed many senior citizens in Broward County. This organization does not only assist the seniors with food products but is able to help them with legal support and other financial needs. Most of seniors that the Pantry of Broward assist are now raising their grandchildren while trying to make ends meet for themselves.

NATURAL DISASTER FUND

Financial Contributions are made to cities, states or countries which have been recently devastated by natural disasters.
