I Won't, I Won't, I Won't Get Older
by Barbara Witzell, Queen RazZ – San Diego, CA.
A little ache here, a little ache there,
Oh my gosh, I found another gray hair!
Those are laugh lines, don't call them wrinkles
Hopefully my eyes are still full of twinkles.
No more 3 inch heels with wispy straps
I seem to need bifocals to read the maps
My skin has lost some of it's elasticity
Some folks think I have positive eccentricity.
Moisturizers, gels and age-defying creams
For looking younger my body screams
Don't dare mention this fuzz on my chin
Is it penance for some historical sin?
Somehow the direction of my breast
Is someplace around my mid-chest
My buns which used to be firm and high
Are now located about mid-thigh
There's nothing to do but face the facts
This aging thing is causing panic Attacks!
I won't, I won't, I won't get older.
I'm more assertive, facing age like a soldier.
How can I fight this aging thing?
Think I'll have a golden fling.
How do I do that without anxiety?
I'll happily join the Red Hat Society.
Ladies over 50 forming a bond.
Wearing red hats they have donned.
A purple outfit is just the touch
Some even add a decorative crutch.
Getting together to share a new life
Forged from sisterhood and lives of strife
I've earned the right to "do it my way"
I'll live life to the fullest starting today.
With fancy red hats worn at a tilt
These ladies are fun-loving and hard to wilt
I might take a nap or a little snooze
But I'm up, about and ready to carooze.
I won't, I won't, I won't get older.
With the Red Hat Society I am feeling bolder
Willing to try new ideas and activities
I've found all kinds of new proclivities
Important sisterhood of friends
On this curious bonding depends
Sharing through laughter and fun
This society keeping aging on the run.
We have children, great and great-great
Is this a new generation we helped create?
Looking back at what we've done
Looking forward to what's begun.
A new outlook on life in purple and red
No time for regret, I'll just forge ahead
With my Red Hat sisters arm-in-arm
I'll bat my eyelashes and turn on the charm.
Somehow the years just flew
Time to face the future anew
I won't, I won't, I won't get older.
With the Red Hat Society, I'm getting bolder.
