Who, What, When & Where
Welcome to the South Daytona R/C Model Yacht Club, located in South Daytona, Florida. Our club was founded in 1990. We are designated AMYA club #163, located in AMYA Region 3, which encompasses the South East US. Specifically, we are located in East Central Florida on the coast, about half way between St. Augustine and Cape Canaveral. If you are passing through, a snow bird, or reside in the area and are looking for a place to explore R/C yachting- we are it! If you are interested in Radio Control sailing or yachting as it is sometimes called, you'll find our club and this site has a lot to offer. SDMYC is very proud of our participation in both local and national events. We have held numerous regattas in the past and look forward to doing so in the future. We sail 4 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 9AM-Noon. Additionally, we sail in house class races on various dates throughout the year as well.
Presently, we are actively sailing 5 different AMYA recognized classes and some custom built, one of a kind, rigs. The classes we support are the Soling One Meter, 36/600, US 12, EC 12 and the Footy The Solings are sailed Monday mornings, the 36/600's Wednesdays and the US 12's Thurdays of each week year round. Our weekday sailing is for those who want a more laid-back kind of activity. Rules, tactics, strategy, tuning, construction and rigging are regularly discussed at these sessions. During the summer months our Saturday sailing is anything goes, you'll find a varied mix of boats on these Saturdays throughout the summer. Be sure to check out the monthly calendar located in the left column for details of other upcoming events.
This website is set up for our members and guests alike to learn more about our hobby and function as a one stop shopping site for links to other websites that may be of use to you. Take a few moments to explore the other pages and the many sublinks available among them. Thanks for stopping in, do come by and see us at the pond, we'd love to meet you and get a chance to show you the boats in action. Our members would be glad to answer any questions you might have about this hobby and even let you take the controls to see how affordable and fun this sport really is!
