Whenever we walk on the Earth, we should pay attention to what is going on. Too often our minds are somewhere else, thinking about the past or thinking about the future. When we do this, we are missing important lessons. The Earth is a constant flow of lessons and teachings, which also include a constant flow of positive feelings. If we are aware as we walk, we will gather words for our lives, the lessons to help our children; we will gather feelings of interconnectedness and calmness. When we experience this, we should say or think thoughts of gratitude. When we do this, the next person to walk on the sacred path will benefit even more.

DRUMMINGS -
Call Sky Dancer at 727/343-4638 for Wolf's Heart Lodge (mixed) and Sons of the Earth (men only) Drumming Lodge dates, location and time

The Chumash have a story... It begins with a worm who is eaten by a bird. The bird is eaten by a cat whose self-satisfaction is disrupted by a mean-looking dog. After devouring the cat, the dog is killed by a grizzly bear. About that time comes a man who kills the bear and climbs a mountain to proclaim his superiority. He ran so hard up the mountain that he died at the top. Before long the worm crawled out of the man. We are all related. -
Kote Katah - Chumash

Blood, sweat, and tears... the story of all Native America.

We survive together or not at all.

Lets put down the small stones between us.

And come together, for it is what the Creator has in store for us.

If we unite, we will be blessed.

It has been said...
It will be done.

The women bring us into this life and nurture us as we grow up. When we reach our manhood, she supports us and sings the songs to help the family grow. The Elders say we must look at the woman in a sacred way. We must realize how special her powers are in brining forth life. The woman will bring balance to a man. The woman will help him see. It is said, behind every successful man is a supporting woman. Maybe we should examine how we are thinking about women. The Great Spirit says we should honor them. Are we respecting and honoring our women today?

Grandmother, Grandfather thank you for our women. Today, let me honor them.

Grey Wolf and Son

Long ago Spirit gave to Humans the dances and songs that one may see at a pow-wow - powerful, beautiful and fun! Eagle came by and saw how the Humans were enjoying themselves, Eagle listened to the songs and thought they were beautiful, too. Eagle flew down to where the people were and said, "I want to dance, too. I can be a good dancer." But Eagle so graceful and light in the air was clumsy and awkward on the ground. Try as Eagle would it was impossible to dance like the humans. Eagle's legs were too short and somehow those wings always seemed to get in the way. So Eagle finally gave up with frustration and said to the Humans, "I really love these ways of song and dance, I wish I could do them, too. Since I can't dance with you I will give you my feathers to use and also my bones to make a whistle...which will be my Voice. In this way I will be dancing with you and when I look down from above I will be with you, enjoying the drum and the songs also. And when there is a song that I like, one that really makes everyone dance and feel lively, YOU WILL HEAR MY VOICE. I will call out through that whistle and when you hear me, sing it again and I will be happy... and I will give my blessing to Humankind for this favor."

May your Walk on the Red Road be one of courage for it takes a strong person to learn and grow in The Creator - A person of Bravery will seek Justice for all living things with a steady ~ compassionate hand.

May you never be afraid to speak your truth and may you 'sing your death song like a Warrior going home' as you 'are recognized in the Spirit World.'

The drumbeat is described as the Heartbeat of the Mother. The drum itself is regarded as a sacred object to be treated with respect. Each drum has a keeper to ensure that no one approaches it under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or shows disrespect by reaching across or setting things on it.

Tobacco is used by native people to represent the honesty that they carry in their hearts when words are to be spoken between two people or to the spirit world. When a request is made, a teaching is shared, a question is asked, or a prayer is offered, the tobacco travels ahead of the words so that honesty will be received in a kind and respectful way. To offer tobacco is to pay an ultimate respect to that which you are asking.

The Seven Teachings Honesty
Humility
Truth
Wisdom
Love
Respect
Bravery

Honesty - to achieve honesty within yourself; to recognize who and what you are; do this and you can be honest with all others

Humility - humble yourself and recognize that no matter how much you think you know, you know very little of all the universe

Truth - to learn truth, to live with truth and to walk with truth, to speak truth

Wisdom - to have wisdom is to know the difference between good and bad and to know the result of your actions

Love - unconditional love to know that when people are weak they need your love the most, that your love is given freely and you cannot put conditions on it or your love is not true

Respect - respect others, their beliefs and respect yourself. If you cannot show respect you cannot expect respect to be given

Bravery - to be brave is to do something right even if you know it's going to hurt you.

Physical - Mental - Emotional - Spiritual
