Mieko\'s_Picture__at_C_of_C.jpgSueno Yoshida Foundation             About the Foundation: The Sueno Yoshida Foundation, a Florida Non- Profit Corporation, is a private, independent foundation established in 2012 by Dr. Mieko Davey, and is operated exclusively for educational purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. The Foundation provides educational opportunities, tools, and support to youth. Mrs. Sueno Yoshida, philanthropist, a resident of Kobe, Japan, owned a successful business, and was known as a leading figure in promoting equality of rights for women in her community in the late 1970's. It was her philosophy to encourage other men and women to be educated in college and graduate schools. The Sueno Yoshida Foundation honors her memory and continues her work to assist students to further their education at an accredited educational institution. Mission: Our mission is to help young people of exceptional promise reach their full potential through education by providing scholarships, instruction, youth training, and other educational activities. Vision: Our vision is a dynamic and diverse community with innovative and unconventional approaches to learning that provides meaningful and educational opportunities through life. Values: The Foundation's work is integrated within a framework that expresses our core values; articulates a vision for our community; and fulfills its mission that guide us. Foundation members, director, and staff value and respect all people, and recognize that persons of gender, race, age, religions, economic levels, and sexual orientations contribute to our society and world. Therefore, every individual is treated with fairness and integrity. The Foundation's activities include instruction and publications that promote learning and convey information to youth and other people. Sueno Yoshida Foundation, Designated Member's Names Dr. Mieko Davey, Founder/Director, e-mail: suenoyoshidafoundation@gmail.com. Dr. Mieko Davey is an educator and researcher. She has taught in the fields of education, American history, English, and music at the College, University, and K-12 schools. Her expertise includes curriculum and instruction, educational management, ESL, social sciences, and music. She has written more than twenty-five research papers, and presented the papers numerous times at regional and national associations including American Educational Research Association. She holds five college degrees including a doctorate in Educational Management. Mr. Brent Davey, Officer/Publicist, e-mail:davey729@yahoo.com. Mr. Davey is an educator with 24 years of experience in the field of public health. He was the chairman of Venetian Sunset Park Project/Committee for the City of Panama City, Florida from 1995 through the dedication of a new city park on November 10 in 1998. He made the impossible dream to come true with great support of then City Commissioner Bob Barnard.

Date: May 24 (Friday), 2013. Time: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Admission: Free. Instructor: Dr. Mieko Davey. Sponsor: Sueno Yoshida Foundation. The classroom activities include listening to classical music, peer interview, reading children's English Books, problem-solving and decision-making activities, etc. in the cooperative learning environment.

FANTASY, A Newsletter of the Sueno Yoshida Foundation: The Sueno Yoshida Foundation (SYF) publishes a free monthly newsletter which contains a section of news, coming events, and valuable advice and articles including the opportunity to submit your own questions. Jeffrey Scott Davey Art Award
The Jeffrey Scott Davey Art Award is a self-perpetuating monetary award to be given to the best student-artist chosen by the art teacher of Northside Elementary School. The art award winner will receive a beautiful award certificate along with a Books-A-Million gift card. Also, the art award winner may receive a cashier's check of $1000.00 to be used for the recipient's college education and to be disbursed upon receipt of proof of college enrollment.  Semiannual Concerts
As part of its mission, the Foundation presents semiannual concerts. The program includes solo instrumental and/or vocal music performed by Dr. Davey. The styles of presentation are: the music from Classical, Romantic, late nineteenth-century, early twentieth-century, folk songs, and new music composed/arranged by Dr. Davey. Upcoming Event: In-Class Piano Concert with Dr. Mieko Davey. Program: “Japanese Music” Admission: Free. Date: May 20 (M), 2013. Time: 12:15 p.m. -1:45 p.m. Place: Music Room, Northside Elementary School, Panama City, Florida. Mini-Concert with Dr. Mieko Davey. Program: Chopin's Music and Folk Songs from the U.S. and Japan. Admission: Free. Date: May 24 (F), 2013. Time: 10:20 am -10:40 am. Place: Gymnasium, Rokko Public Elementary School, Kobe, Japan.
 

The Sueno Yoshida Scholarship
To fulfill its mission, the Foundation identifies and supports young people of exceptional promise, application, and character who have demonstrated excellence in academic endeavors in the fields of Art, Language Arts, Music, Mathematics, and Social Studies. Each year, the Foundation awards on $1,000.00 scholarship to a graduating high school senior student in the United State. The scholarship is to be used for the recipient's college education and is awarded upon receipt of proof of college enrollment. On April 27, the Scholarship Committee has selected the recipient for this 2013 Sueno Yoshida Scholarship award. Please understand that the Foundation has received many applications and it was a very difficult choice for the Committee to select only one recipient from all distinguished applicants. Each applicant for this scholarship applications will receive a letter from the Foundation concerning the application. Thank you for taking interest in our Sueno Yoshida Scholarship Award Program. We wish you all the success in your academic and professional pursuits.
