SVN Conference May 2006 "Whose Visit Is It?"
![]() The 2006 Conference Committees has decided on a theme that puts the focus on child-centered supervised visitation services but also opens up the conference for open discussion about the needs of others involved in the visit. There are many stakeholders: the courts, the parents, often the attorneys, perhaps child protective services, and even the visitation center staff. How do we meet everyone's needs without losing sight of the child? Plan now to join us for another exciting conference. The Conference will be held at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center in Rapid City, SD, near Mt. Rushmore National Monument. The Ramkota is the upper Midwest’s largest hotel/convention center. It features a unique western décor, complete with bison, running horses and livestock, complimented with real western family-friendly hospitality and the Black Hills largest indoor hotel water park! And at only $79.00 per night for guest rooms (and $109 for a 2-bedroom executive suite) it may be the most affordable conference we have had to date. For more information about the hotel and nearby attractions, visit their web site at www.ramkota.com |
Call for Presenters A Call for Presenters This year's theme is designed to put the focus on child-centered supervised visitation services but also opens up the conference for open discussion about the needs of others involved in the visit. There are many stakeholders: the courts, the parents, often the attorneys, perhaps child protective services, and even the visitation center staff. How do we meet everyone's needs without losing sight of the child? We invite experienced trainers in supervised visitation and related disciplines to submit proposals for workshops or plenary sessions that focus on this issue. We would also like to see workshops regarding research related to outcomes for children in supervised visitation and basic information on the needs of children experiencing family dysfunction and dissolution and the nuts and bolts of developing and operating programs. Please submit the following: 1. Your resume that includes your professional qualifications and information about other trainings you have presented 2. Names and contact information of at least two people who can attest to your presentation skills 3. Title and outline of proposed workshop with samples of workshop materials (This should be detailed enough so we can see how it relates to the theme or to one of the focus issues.) 4. Target audience 5. Length of workshop (Workshop sessions are typically 1.5 hours. If you need longer, there is the option of asking for two sessions for a total of 3 hours.) 6. Presentation and audio-visual needs Volunteer workshop presenters are required to submit all of their workshop materials in an electronic format for publication on the web site no less than 6 weeks prior to the conference. If materials are received on time, copies will be made for distribution in the workshop. If not received by deadline date, presenters will be responsible for the duplication of their own materials and will not be reimbursed for the costs. Please send all information by January 15, 2006 (They are still accepting) We prefer to receive it electronically.
