Be A Member! Get Involved!
T* A* S* C* is always seeking volunteers to join the coalition in support of its mission and purpose.

All that is required is a willingness to learn about and an ability to make an effort to support adults, especially more higher-functioning adults, with autism spectrum disorders, their families and friends.

This can be done by giving moral and other support to the activities and efforts sponsored by T* A* S* C*.

We are looking for higher-functioning adults with autism spectrum disorders, such as Asperger's Syndrome, who are interested in individual and collective self-advocacy.

For more information,
contact us.

You may not recognize the company name on the letterhead, but we think what it represents is familiar enough— we’re still the same little ‘autism support group’ you’ve participated in, in the past.

As you may know, there’s been some sort of ‘autism support group’ since 2003. (You’ve been to one or more of the meetings at some point or the other, or you wouldn’t be receiving this letter.) If you participated in ‘autism’ “meetings” in the coffee shop at the old Barnes & Nobles and/or the old Borders bookstores on Apalachee Parkway, in the Education Building over at the (First Presbyterian) church downtown, in the Arc of Florida offices off Mahan Drive, or in activities at museums, restaurants, parks and other locales all over Tallahassee, then you been involved in an event or activity put on or “sponsored” by us.

I know that you may have not participated in anything in a long time and you may have any one or more of a number of reasons for not doing so…. Maybe you’ve forgotten or never got around to it…. Maybe you were frustrated or just bored with the “program” as presented by us…. Maybe…. Well, only you really know best.

I just wanted to let you know that since you left us, we have been growing and changing. We are now organized as a Florida nonprofit corporation and are seeking IRS 501(c) (3) nonprofit status in order to be eligible for both corporate/foundational and community funding. We have been working with both community, regional and statewide partners to combine our collective stregtns and avoid duplication. We’ve been working on improving our efforts – our programs to better serve – to be better suited to the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder, other developmental and intellectual disabilities, their families and friends. So, all we ask is that you give us another try – give yourself another opportunity to experience the social, recreational, support and advocacy opportunities represented by something that is only in the best sense the ‘same old T* A* S* C*,’ but is also in every good sense, the all-new “FLAWsome!.”

So, make it your New Years resolution to make it some Saturday to join us at Earth Fare…. Or participate in the all-new ‘Support-thru-Advocacy’ program…. Or…something. At the very least, get beck in touch with us and make sure we have your current, correct contact information so that we can send you our newsletter and let you know what’s going on. Maybe you might even join us for the Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day at the Capitol coming up on February 1.

Let me know. I’d love to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Jarl K. Jackson
