Why Tarpon Springs Kiwanis?
As an individual, you may become aware of a need or a problem and as only one person you feel helpless to do anything about it. But when you gather together as a group of caring men and women under the banner of Kiwanis, we can, and we certainly do, make a huge difference.
What do Kiwanis clubs do?
All Kiwanis clubs are different. The clubs are not required to do any specific projects. You decide based on community needs, your member’s interest and your available resources what projects your club is going to undertake. Kiwanis ‘s main focus is children, but your club can undertake programs in support of Senior Citizens or any community need you desire.
What are the qualifications to become a member of Kiwanis?
There are two. First you must be at least 18 years old. Second, you must be a person who has the capacity to care about others.
What does it cost to be a member of this Kiwanis club?
Currently the annual dues are $100. Fees are paid for International dues, Florida dues, insurance, International Foundations, Florida Foundation, and a magazine subscription. The balance stays with the Tarpons Springs club.
How much time does it take?
There are two evening meetings on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Service projects and fundraisers need volunteers which may take additional time.
What is expected of me if I join?
Attend as many of the meetings as possible so that you are aware of what is going on in the club. There are no minimum attendance requirements but you are encouraged to get involved with some of the community service and fund raising projects.
What do I get out of being a member of this Kiwanis Club?
There are several important benefits. First you are going to make new friends. Second you are going to have fun. Third, you are going to experience good fellowship, Kiwanians care about each other. Welcome!
How do I become a member?
Complete the application and give to the new membership chairperson. Your application would then be reviewed by the board of directors. When it is approved by the board of directors, the new membership chairperson will contact you. They will take your check made payable to Kiwanis and submit it along with the application to Kiwanis International. Shortly thereafter you will receive a welcome kit which includes your membership card from Kiwanis International.
