Tournament Results 1. Pre-season Primer (Thunderskate). ![]()
Strong showing at our Pre-season Primer. Dec. 12-13th. Playing in the 10U Division, we hung in there with the Tournament Winner, Hyper Heat (3-1 loss). Then we had a tough loss against Skatezone. But we bounced back for a 3-3 tie with the Thunderblade 10U's. We were the only team to go the distance with Hyper Heat in round robin play, thanks in large part to Matthews steller performance in net. Congratulations to Hyper Heat, 1st Place and Team Skatezone, runners up.
Pre-Season Primer results, Dec 12-13th 2003:
2. ECHO Regional (Thunderskate).
Tough losses at the ECHO Regional at Thunderskate. Again playing 10U, we were flat as a team and seemed a little intimidated at times. ECHO Regional results, Jan 10-11th 2004:
3. NARCh Winter Nationals (Las Vegas)
Our first real 8U competition - the Winter Nationals in Las Vegas. We played strong and proved we could skate with those CA teams. We struggled a bit getting points on the board, even though we out shot every team we played. We made the playoffs with the #4 seed, in the 7 team Atom Division and faced off against the #1 seeded team (a team that was more a Platinum level team than Gold). The boys played their hearts out and left everything out on the floor. It was a valueable experience for us and showed us what level we need to be playing at by years end.

4. Coastal Cup Regional (Thunderskate)
Another qualifier playing 10U, only this one would be different. The boys are starting to believe they can play with these older teams. It's all about playing smart aggressive Hockey! They wasted no time in proving it, not only to the fans, but more importantly to themselves. With a win over the 10U Thunderblades in the first game, you could tell things would be different. Next up - Sun Devils, whom we would play tough and at times out play, we again came up short on the score board. After an easy win over the Barracudas, the stage was set for the Gold level championship game against the Sun Devils. The boys played tough and it was anybody's game towards the end then the Devils scored an insurance goal on us for a 3-1 lead with 1:48 remaining. The boys played their hearts out that whole game and left it all on the floor, not to mention the last 1:48, they never quit. Time ran out on us, but we proved our point....we can play with these boys!!!
Coastal Cup Qualifier, Feb 7th-8th 2004:
Congratulations to Matthew and Mason for being chosen by their team mates to represent the 8U Thunderblades on the Coastal Cup all Tournament Team.
5. ECHO Regional (New Port Richey).
Playing 10U again and knowing the teams would be tough didn't stop us from stepping up to the plate. We treated this tournament like a scrimmage to get us ready for the next couple of tournaments. We played tough against every team we faced and even pulled out a win in one game. ECHO Regional results, Feb. 27th-29th 2004:
6. Atlantic Cup Regional (Raleigh, NC.)
We traveled to Raleigh, NC. to play an Atlantic Cup Qualifier. It was nice to see a solid showing of 8U teams for a change - 5 in all. We started out a little slow and sloppy. But as time ticked by we started executing. What seemed to be our typical problem (finding the back of the net) would go away as our first game progressed and the boys seemed to just feed off that. We carried that momentum through the round robin, gaining us the #1 seed for the playoffs. But the Championship game would be a little different. We fell behind early 3-1 and it stayed that way into the 3rd period. Now we were faced with something we didn't do, or have to do all weekend and that was to make a comeback and we only had 10 minutes to do it. The boys answered the call and got us a 5-3 lead late in the 3rd. However, the Comets would not go away, answering with a goal in the final minutes. In dramatic fashion we held off a last minute charge for the 5-4 win and the gold medals! Atlantic Cup Regional results, March 12th-14th 2004:
Congratulations go out to:
7. Florida Cup Regional (Ellenton, FL.)
Playing 10U once again, we used this tournament for a tune up for the NARCh Qualifier. Going into the playoffs as the #2 seed after a tie with our 10U Thunderblades and a big 3-2 win over the Sun Devils, our confidence seemed to fall and we suffered a tough loss against the Sun Devils in the game that would decide who would play the Gulf Coast Storm in the Championship Game. Florida Cup Regional results, March 26th-28th 2004:
8. NARCh Qualifier (Lake Worth, FL.)
Playing with a depleted bench due to illness we did the best we could. We got a chance to play a true platinum level team - the Jr. Lightning 95's. We were a bit flat and outmatched. But we tried our best and thats all that matters. NARCh Regional results, April 2-4 2004:
