 Purple Sparkles

Here are some of our candid moments. Life just keeps getting better!
We celebrate our 2nd Red Hat Witches Event with a trip to the spiritualist camp of Cassadega where we had a lovely lunch at the Historic Ann Stevens House (Circa 1895). We had witches, a princess, walking cocktails, a red hat she-devil and of course, QM Ritzy as a Fortune Teller with her 8 Ball.
As part of our RHS Day celebration we treated ourselves to a very nice lunch at an old time plantation house, now a restaurant (Captain and the Cowboy, Apopka, FL). We had Millie Harris, Lady of Leisure, do the welcome speech and Carol Redfelsen, Empress of Literature, proclaimed the day by reading "Ode to the Red Hat Society" by Sue Ellen Cooper. Joining in the fun were representatives from 3 other chapters and their QM's, Judy Miller from Orlando, QM Marion Owen from Lake Mary and Barb Steffens from Sanford. QM Ritzy and Bobbie Sutton, our Lady Scrapper, also joined in more festivities at the Greater Orlando Red Hat Society Day Celebration where we were entertained by two impersonators as Bette Midler and Dionne Warwick.

What a milestone! On July 5th our own Lady MyRose turned 90!. And in her own words "I was a firecracker that fizzle"! What a hattitude! Congratulations to you and let your living example inspire us all!

Bobbie Sutton and Grandma Luge
On April 1st QM Ritzy and Lady Scrapper (Bobbie Sutton) went off to play at the Aging Out Loud Expo, Orlando. And what a thrilled and honor it was to meet six- time Olympics, Anne A. (Grandma Luge)!
Our red and pink hats off to you, Grandma luge! What an inspiration!

In October we decided to put on our Red Witches Hat and go to the Sugar Mill Restaurant were you can make your own pancakes right at your table!
|
Lady Lu Lu took first place with the "Most Scariest" for her red devilish hat, Myra Rose took first place with her red "horny" hat and Lady Sunshine tood first place for most original with her "blinking spider and veil" hat.

Last month it was our chapter’s first year anniversary! Cheers to the Vintage Girls! We have grown to 15 members and celebrated with a tour and tea at the Maitland Historical Society.
Besides dressing up our hats we had our member installation ceremony where we had 9 new members take the Red Hat Pledge to join hands in red hat spirit and go for the Gusto! Welcome to all our new Vintage Girls! And here is to another year of fun and sisterhood! |
The theme was Red Mad Hatters Unbirthday celebration. Some of us decorated our hats for the occasion (like we need any more reasons to embellish our hats!
We even got our own White Hare! (And she was on time!), Caroline Swabb, Queen of yarn who by popular vote took first place, following closely by one of our Pink Hatters, Cheri and her caterpillar hat and Princess Kathy and her Mad Hatters hat, with a whole tea set on her head. Now, that’s what I call a Red Hat Mad Hatter!

On Saturday, April 23, 2005 some of us joined about 300 red hat sisters at the first Greater Orlando Red Hat Society Day celebration at the Elks Lodge in Orlando, FL.

Our July Event was directly from Vegas, Tom Bartlett as "The King" along with a dessert reception (what we do best, eat dessert first). Ladies, if you want to see more of Elvis go to his website www.tombartlett.net. He is a "hunka, hunka, burning love"!

After such a succesful event, what a better way to celebrate a well-done job at the Sleuth's Mystery Theater. Here we are with the cast. It was a night "to die" for.
