Steering Team ![]() Our MOPS group is organized by a group of volunteers called the "Steering Team." If there is anything we can do to make your MOPS experience more beneficial, please let us know. Ashley Brandes, Coordinator As Coordinator Ashley and Grace lead the Steering Team and act as liaisons between MOPS International and West Bradenton Baptist Church. They also sets the tone for the MOPS meetings and effectively direct the steering team in planning and implementing the schedule for the year, as well as handling organizational needs such as confirming speakers. As well as being the Co-coordinator with Ashley, Grace oversees the wonderful care of our children during our MOPS meetings. She recruits, trains, and supports the MOPPETS workers.
Lela is responsible for soliciting and finding items for the monthly newsletter, as well as creating, the newsletter for the members of the group. Also on her agenda is updating this website and coming up with ideas for getting our MOPS name our in our community.
As Finance chair, Heather suggests a budget for our MOPS group based on known costs, anticipated expenditures, and expected income. She also serves as a financial liaison with West Bradenton Baptist Church. Heather establishes a registration procedure and shows sensitivity to the financial needs of each MOPS woman. She also explores the possibility/availability of scholarships for women in the group who cannot afford to attend MOPS. Her job, with the help of some volunteers, is to make each mom feel welcome, answer questions, organize refreshments and tables at each MOPS meeting, and delegate responsibilities to our Greeters and MOPS members as needed. She also helps plan and implement special events outside of MOPS such as Meals for Moms, Mother/Child outings, Mom’s Night Out, and Couple’s Events. As the Discussion Group Team Leader, Ann will lend her creativity to formatting our discussion sessions; choosing articles, books, video clips, or other topics for Round Table Discussion.
She coordinates with Heather Gillen over the finances for budgeting and buying craft supplies, plan and organize a creative activity for each month and expertly explain each fabulous craft to the group. Please contact Doris with any ideas you have for future crafts!
