No species more clearly symbolizes America's changing view of wildlife than the gray wolf. Having been virtually eliminated in the lower 48 states by 1965, most people now recognize the error of persecuting wolves and understand the value of large predators in suitable habitats for the health and proper functioning of an ecosystem.

Creator, open our hearts to peace and healing between all people.

Creator, open our hearts to provide and protect for all children of the earth.

Creator, open our hearts to respect for the earth, and all the gifts of the earth.

Creator, open our hearts to end exclusion, violence, and fear among all.

Thank you for the gifts of this day and every day.

When all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money.

WOLF'S HEART LODGE welcomes you to join us in Celebration of all Creator has gifted to us. To drum and chant and share our this Earth Walk. To work for the People and the Land. Call Sky Dancer at 727/343-4638 for details.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

There are still too many people in this world who hate wolves. Most would change their minds, if they could share my experience. One must understand the wolf in the wild to truly appreciate the animal. We humans judge wolves by our own standards. However, in their own world, up there in the high arctic where human standards are sparse, this wolf pack can maybe teach us think about their species in a different way. By sharing the life of this pack that I have had the extreme privilege of knowing, I hope I can help other people to see the wolf for what it is: One more magnificent species, superbly adapted to contend with it's harsh environment, and highly deserving of our understanding and acceptance.

- L. David Mech

Think for a moment about the kind of footprint you make upon our earth...

Fulfilling the immediate demands of our growing human population places increasingly unreasonable demands upon our wildlife and our environment. Commit yourself to making a difference in this world and to creating a better future for wolves and for people. This is being done through education, conservation and through a balanced approach to the issues facing our environment. Sharing these efforts, together we can make a difference.

Check out the links area of this website for wonderful organizations working to save our brothers the Wolf.

It's our responsibility, and our honor, to protect
our older brothers and sisters... the four-leggeds.

Wolf Pack -
From the Alpha to the Omega, each has their place in the pack. The Alpha: big, strong, commanding, respected by the pack A true symbol of leadership. The Omega: quiet, submissive, the lowest ranking member of the pack, yet valued highly by the pack as the instigator of play and fun. The pack eats, sleeps, plays, and hunts as one. Each member to the pack quickly learn their place and join the pack helping to maintain a close knit family. The wolf is a true victim of man's insecurity, haunted by the evil legends, tales, and fables, hunted to the brink of extinction; but the Spirit of the Wolf cannot be broken, they have survived man's attempts to destroy them. Now they struggle to maintain their rightful place in the wilderness.

Maybe if man learns to understand the values of the pack, Like the lone wolf that cannot survive without the pack man cannot survive alone without his fellow kind. Continue to fight for your survival. Wolf pack, raise your young, bring them up in your footsteps, run Free, run Wild. Maybe someday your Howl to unite the pack will be heard Everywhere.
