k7148149.jpgGreetings    My name is Stephanie Blackwell. If you are visiting my website, your child is either in or will soon be in my class. I teach Humanities for second and third graders at St. Elmo. This year, my emphasis will be placed on English/Language Arts and Social Studies. My morning class will participate in a unit on biographies. My afternoon enrichment class will study geography and social studies.

News Flash All of us at St. Elmo are eagerly anticipating the completion of our new playground equipment. We hope you will visit us and see our new addition.

Biographies
The focus of instruction will help ensure that students gain exposure to a range of vocabulary and texts that require rigorous reading and analysis of complex material from various biographies . Students will respond to literature by writing reports and mini biographies as well as creating research-based projects to extend their understanding of the texts.
 Geo Safari
The students will conduct research to learn about government, economy, climate, and geography. They will then apply this knowledge to create a Powerpoint slide show. They will simulate being shipwrecked on a desert island and asked to create an island society where they can survive and flourish.

Keep in Touch
Your child should already have a take-home folder that I like to call the "Boomerang Folder." I will expect your child to give you the folder after coming to St. Elmo each week. Please check the folder for important announcements. Then sign the folder even if it does not have anything new in it. I will check for the signature each week. Feel free to write comments and questions in this folder. I will do the same. I can also be reached by calling St. Elmo at 706.748.3115 or by e-mailing me. My e-mail address is: sblackwell@mcsdga.net If you have any concerns or questions about my class, please share these with me. I want my students to have a positive experience at St. Elmo. If there are problems, I want to know so that I can solve them.
