Mrs. Blackwell's Bards     The second and third grade students have changed classes. The students in my Shakespeare Survey class have begun working diligently to uncover facts about Shakespeare using books, magazines, encyclopedias, and internet sources. They will be analyze these facts and use them to create a storyboard on the life of the great playwright. The slides they create will then be organized to produce a computer generated photostory. You will be able to see the finished product on a disc your child will bring home, and at our play presentation in May. My Drama students are already beginning to amaze me with their acting abilities. In the coming weeks we will analyze characters, and plays. Then we will begin practicing for a production in which the students will perform excerpts from the works of William Shakespeare.

Shakespeare is Elementary  Welcome to St. Elmo and my classroom. My name is Stephanie Blackwell. For the next nine weeks, your child will be in my "Shakespeare Survey" class. In the afternoon they will change classes and attend Mrs. Wright's class for "Poetry Alive". At the beginning of the next nine weeks, our classes will flip-flop. At that time your child will study math with Mrs. Wright in the morning and then come to me for instruction in the dramatic arts. At the end of the semester, our classes will hold a special presentation to share what we have learned.

Shakespeare Survey
"To be or not to be" Can students in second and third grade study Shakespeare? Yes if they attend St. Elmo. Students in this class will research the life of William Shakespeare and create a storyboard about him that will be used in a class Powerpoint slide show. Students will also become familiar with famous lines, plays, and characters created by the bard.
  "All the World's a Stage"
In our enrichment class, students will practice the dramatic arts. Poise, movement, reading fluency, creative interpretation, and oral presentation will be stressed. The class will culminate with a performance of the play "Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf Meet Shakespeare." Parents may be called on to help with preparations including scenery. If you have expertise in art, music, dance, or drama and would like to help, please let me know. Be looking for your invitation to our production! Please see the attached copy of our play. download THIS MS Word file

Keep in Touch
Your child should already have a take-home folder that I like to call the "Boomerang Folder." I will expect your child to give you the folder after coming to St. Elmo each week. Please check the folder for important announcements. Then sign the folder even if it does not have anything new in it. I will check for the signature each week. Feel free to write comments and questions in this folder. I will do the same. I can also be reached by calling St. Elmo at 706.748.3115 or by e-mailing me. My e-mail address is: sblackwell@mcsdga.net If you have any concerns or questions about my class, please share these with me. I want my students to have a positive experience at St. Elmo. If there are problems, I want to know so that I can solve them.
