Who Are We?

We're an offical registered chapter #23178!

Queen India

We are an organized group of ladies whose main objective is to get together for the purpose of fun and friendship. Sometimes we are serious and sometimes we are silly, but one thing is for certain, we will always take our silliness seriously. We may eat dessert first. Aspire to laugh much more and grow old playfully. Are proof that there is life after wrinkles. Embrace freedom age brings. Practice being audacious older women. Are not for the faint of heart. Feel challenged to live the second half of life outrageously. So since we are all in this together we might as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together. Underneath the frivolity, we share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life takes us next. Our guidelines (Not Rules!): We have no rules...only guidelines!

Sorry, but our chapter is closed to new members.

Keeping Up With The Babes!

Cookies, cookies and more cookies!! We had a Christmas in July cookie exchange at Shelley Simmons home on July 23rd. Shelley served a lovely lunch then on to the COOKIES! She was so sweet to print out the recipes for the cookies and put in a binder for all of us. Thanks Shelley!

Some of the Bodacious Babes joined the Stone Mountain Belles and Magnolia Madams on a road trip to Maysville, GA.

Destination was the Burns-Telford House. It's a lovely remodeled farm house in the country that is filled with wonderful jewelry, hats, china, antiques and more to purchase or just admire. You could spend hours just browsing!

Our lunch of chicken salad, a slice of Quiche Lorraine, fresh fruit and warm freshly baked homemade bread was served on beautiful china.

The hour ride to Maysville was well worth the trip to the Burns-Telford House.

Our June 25th event was held at Hometown BBQ in Lawrenceville.
It was nice seeing Denise Carlton, Windy Riggs/Emmie and Shelley Simmons as they haven't been able to attend in awhile.
Theme was 4th of July. The owner of Hometown BBQ picked the door prize winners.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Red Hat Ladybugs of Garden Plaza hosted their annual "RED HAT EXTRAVAGANZA" on June 16TH. There were 152 Red Hatters from different chapters that enjoyed a wonderful free buffet compliments of Garden Plaza. Door prizes were also given out. After the luncheon we moved to the theatre area where we were entertained by "Ms. Eudora Rumph" aka Catherine Ritch Guess from SMACKASS GAP, NC. Not only is she a comedian but a writer, pianist, and a speaker. She gave away some of her books. Brenda Kennedy was the lucky winner of one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There was an invasion of Red Hatters at the Avenue at Webb Gin in Lawrenceville, May 21st. Three different groups had luncheons there the same day but at different restaurants.

We went shopping at Charming Charlie's before our luncheon at Red Robin's. It's surprising CC had any RED OR PURPLE accessories left with three groups shopping at the store.

We didn't get to Red Robin's until around 2:00 so it was a late lunch.

Paulette had wonderful gifts for all ladies that attended. She did a great job with everyone having a fun afternoon!

On April 30, 2011, 15 Babes gathered at Journeys End in Loganville, Ga for a satisfying meal of the ultimate in comfort foods.
We wore our "cone head" birthday hats and got loads of compliments on them. everyone had to tell a story. Pat's story to be continued......!!Thanks to our hostess, Sonia for an enjoyable time of fellowship.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our March 19th event was held at Maria Prisant home. There were only 6 ladies able to attend. Others were in Nashville, TN. at a RED HAT mini convention.
The afternoon was spent playing Bingo, eating, drinking, chatting and just having a great time with good fellowship. You learn more about each other when you have a small group.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Our Feb 26th luncheon was held at Hot & Cold Chinese Buffet in Snellville. We had 16 ladies which included two guests..Sarah Marshall (Brenda's friend) and Christine (Paulette's friend)
We were thrilled to see two old friends that haven't been able to come to our events...Beverly Simler and Denise Carlton
Brenda, our host, gave everyone a cloth tote bag as a gift.
There were sooo many choices of food and sooo cheap...even got a 10% Senior discount...lol!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Planning meeting was held at Cindy Paine's home Jan 22nd. India appointed Cindy as her Vice-Queen.
We had two new ladies join us..Leslie Sausville and Linda Reynolds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

With our "Trinket Boxes" in tow, we headed out to Parc Communities in Duluth for our annual Christmas luncheon.
Parc Communities welcomed us with several palette pleasing choices from a special menu. We all had a fun filled time and are already planning next years event. A special nod goes to Linda for winning the prize for the most festive hat.
Cheers to a wonderful holiday season filled with love and many more fun filled Red Hat events in the future. May your stocking be filled with "BLING"

Sunrise Assisted Living on Webb Gin in Snellville hosted an afternoon tea on Saturday, November 13th from 2:30-430. Bodacious Babes and The Stone Mountain Belles attended along with many of the residents of the facility. We were served tuna sandwiches, egg saladsandwiches, mini muffins, cran-raisin cookies, punch and tea. The Dining Room was decorated in purple and red for the Red Hat theme.Sonia Benel, our Hostess had gifts for all the residents attending. Some of our ladies dressed up in costumes and had the residents guess who they were. Those answering correctly won a prize. Sonia Benel was "Carmen Mirada", Bonnie Morgan (aka Minnie Mouse), India Wells (aka Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ) Violet Jackson (aka ELVIS), and Marv Evans (aka Dale Evans). We all had a great time.

A group of us went to see "Menopause: the Musical" at the Performing Arts Center at Gwinnett Center on Nov 3rd. What a fun filled evening....so funny!!

Lou's Soda Shop~Social Circle, GA~ Sept 25th Bodacious Babes Event.

Nine of us Babes met at Lou's Soda Shop and were "Stuck" in the 50's and 60's again. What fun we had singing along and rocking' out to the music on the jukebox. We were transported back to a much simpler time when families ate together and played together. A time when poodle skirts, leather jackets and duck tails were all the rage.

We dined on hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and onion rings along with milkshakes and hot fudge sundaes. YUM! Thanks to Betty and Shirley for taking us back

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once again our group of ladies have out done themselves! The "Babes" are an active mix of women who never cease to amaze me by coming up with new and different ideas to keep us entertained. On Saturday, Aug 21st, we met at FireHouse #12 in Snellville for lunch and a jewelry making class. Our Pot luck lunch was superb!
Karees, our instructor had the patience of "Job"; however we turned out some beautiful pieces. Now comes the biggest problem "where can we go to showcase them". Brenda gets the "boobie" prize, She made four pieces while some of us struggled to make one.
Queen India promised us a glimpse of "hunkie" fireman..don't know what happened but they were a lot of women there. Maybe that's why we had such a large turnout?
Many thanks to Karees and to all you wonderful ladies who make our group so much fun to be a part of.
Oh, by the way, Donna has two different sized ankles
Christmas in July Cookie Swap~~July 24th
The Bodacious Babes celebrated Christmas in July! What? Are you kidding me?? the Mercury read 98 degrees and we are having Christmas?? What can I say "we are Red Hatters" and proud of it! Being in the Red Hat groups allows us lots of leeway. We celebrate everything, Happy Nothing Day, Happy Chocolate Meltdown Day: we pride ourselves in coming up with unique ideas to entertain us and work hard to bring them to fruition.
Now, back to Christmas in July. Our hostess, Shelley, treated us royally with a delightful lunch. For dessert, we samples cookies from our cookie swap and if that wasn't enough we enjoyed wonderful cappuccino and coffees from the coffee bar. Santa came by and dropped off gifts for all of us. We were also invited to enjoy the pool but when those damn "Hippies" showed up it was down hill from there!
Thanks to all of you who made this day so special!! Bye, bye work!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bodacious Babes' event, Saturday, June 26, 2010 was First Class all the way! We met at the Oyster Bay Seafood Cafe in Lawrenceville for a lunch of baked oysters, grouper, half dollar size scallops, and other wonderful items. Delicious! Our waiter, Jake, took such care of us, we will be returning soon. Hostess Brenda had gifts for all of us and door prizes as well.

After lunch we were invited to LONA Gallery, owned by Carolyn Wright and Sylvia Culberson. Our hostesses served wine and sumptuous desserts including chocolate fondue and fresh strawberries! Very nice door prizes were given away including an 8x10 flower print, two tickets for Lawrenceville Ghost Tours and a refillable Nova jar candle. In addition, everyone received a LONA tote gift bag. The Gallery is a feast for the eyes, pottery, paintings, beautiful dolls, jewelry, etc. When you are in the area stop by and say hello.

Some of us shopped at Red Hat Lane afterwards. What an enjoyable day! Thank you Brenda

Stone Mountain Belles and some Bodacious Babes attended a most unusual wedding on Saturday, June 12, 2010 hosted by Lady Graceland. The invitation did not make mention of the groom.

Private nuptials were attended by an elite few. Security was at its peak. As we gathered at the assigned place, we encountered wedding bells on the mailbox held there by an elaborate white satin bow. We were ushered in to the "Love Chapel" where soft, romantic music played. The altar was beautifully decorated with yards and yards of billowing white tulle, fresh flowers in blue and white and candlelight flickered all around.

As the excitement built, from the alcove stepped an individual holding a draped statue...who could it be? The drape was removed and there stood Elvis Presley! (everyone in the chapel gasped for breathe, no one uttered a word). He wore a white jumpsuit with a red Hawaiian lei around his neck. The Hawaiian Wedding song began to play as Maxine was ushered down the aisle. Maxine's wedding dress was a thing of beauty made of long flowing purple taffeta covered in rhinestones. She wore a white feather boa with rhinestone jewelry, red hat with purple ribbon and pink bunny slippers. A sight to behold!

As the vows were exchanged by JP Paine, promises were made to love one another and Maxine promising to be faithful in making fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches for her new beau. Beautiful red jeweled flashing rings were presented as an expression of their love.

There was only one hitch. Priscilla showed up and objected to the union with a tearful plea vowing she would always love Elvis. However, JP Paine informed her that "that was in the past" and the wedding would go on. Elvis and Maxine walked down the aisle hand in hand smiling all the way. Elvis and Maxine left the building! No mention was made of the honeymoon location.

A very nice receiption was held at Sonia's Blue Willow Inn. All guest enjoyed a Southern buffet complete with wedding cake plus a grooms cake of banana and peanut butter.

We are expecting a baby shower next year for the happy couple.
