| Mrs. Barnes' First Grade Class
I want to begin by thanking each of you for allowing me to teach your children during the 2008-2009 school year. Educating our children is a serious responsibility for teachers and parents alike. I have listed a few tips of ways that you can help your child throughout the school year.
1. Please check your child's folder nightly for pertinent information. Weekly newsletters,including homework,will be sent home on Monday. Please sign the conduct sheet on a daily basis. Sign and return it in the folder each day.
2. Please read 20-30 minutes each day with your child/children. Begin by reading the short book to them and then allow them to read it to you. A great follow-up activity would be to write a sentence about the book, and then draw and color a picture about the book.
3. Please study the words together that are listed in the Parent/Student handbook. Cover page 1 of the MCSD word list.
4. You can help your child by going over the basic addition/subtraction facts,by working on money and coins, and by working on telling time. Also, work with your child by helping him/her count to 100. Also, rememeber to help them count by 2's,5's and 10's. |
