What's Happening This Week
Welcome to Kindergarten! We are very excited to start off a new year! This month we will be learning all about ourselves and our friends, starting with names!

Core Knowledge Updates
Core Knowledge time is when we work on our science and social studies. We are learning all about ourselves and our friends, as well as the rules and procedures of our class!

Principal's Book of the Month

Every month, Mrs. Douglass gives each class a book to use with the reading strategies. This month, our book is "A Chair For My Mother" by Vera B. Williams. We will be using the reading strategy Schema with this book!

  Exploring Math

We are beginning the year learning about our numbers! We will be working on 0-10 - recognizing, writing, counting, and making sets!

Reminders

Being tardy to class interrupts the learning going on in the room. Please have your children here on time - on and after the third time they are tardy, they will sit in the STOP room for 30 minutes during playtime.

Please MAKE SURE to send a note when your child will be going home a different way. We will not allow them to go home a different way without a note. Also, make sure to tell your child to give us the note. We do not go through their book bags each day. They need to learn responsibility about turning in things. Thanks for your cooperation.

Please remember that students need to come to school EVERYDAY in dress code, unless otherwise notified. Dress code is a collared shirt (dark blue, light blue, white, red, or yellow); navy or khaki pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, or jumpers; athletic shoes (preferably with white soles); and a belt.

  Parent's Corner

Parent involvement makes all the difference with your child. Please talk to your child about what they did at school, and read with your child every night. Emphasizing that school is important will help your child succeed!
