My name is Caitlyn Garner.

I am a proud graduate of MCSD and Columbus High. I graduated from CHS in 2005 and went on to pursue a college career in North Carolina.

I attended Barton College (home of the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Champions) in Wilson, North Carolina. Barton College is a small, private liberal arts college, and a great place to cultivate who you truly are. I graduated second in my class in May 2009, and while I was ready to come home, I was still sad to leave Barton behind.

I returned home to teach where I had grown up, and could not be more excited to be where I am. Everyday possess great potential and marvelous learning experiences, and I am so glad I get to share them with you and your children.

I do have several severe allergies, that I feel are important for you to know. I have an autoimmune disease called Celiac Disease. I was diagnosed three years ago on September 13th. It is easily controlled with an extremely restricted diet. I cannot eat anything that is made with wheat, rye, barley, or oats. Which means almost all baked goods and store brought goodies are off-limits. It is also dangerous for me to handle items that are made with wheat, so if you bring in something for the class that I need to pass out, please bring in some gloves as well. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I am very open about it and don't mind explaining it at all. Please do not be offended if I cannot share any treats you bring in for the class. I truly do appreciate it and welcome it because it is so important to the students. I just cannot join in myself.

If your child has any allergies that have not already been disclosed, please let me know as soon as possible, because I do understand the importance of making every child safe and comfortable in the classroom.
