    Welcome to The Greater Chattahoochee Valley Association of Diabetes Educators website                     

    GCVADE was formed in 2003 and chartered in 2004. GCVADE is dedicated to promoting professional growth and development of its interdisciplinary members. GCVADE also works to maintain communication among individuals and organizations involved in diabetes education. What are the benefits of GCVADE membership?

      All Chapter members should be members of National AADE. Categories of membership include:

    • 1. Active Member Any person with interest in diabetes education
    • 2. Active Corporate Any individual member of industry engaged in the production or sale of products or services useful to diabetes educators.

    The Greater Chattahoochee Valley Association of Diabetes Educators (GCVADE) is a nonprofit organization of multidisciplinary stakeholders involved in diabetes care and education.

    The GCVADE chapter was recognized in 2004 as an official chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) national organization.

    AADE Mission Statement: The American Association of Diabetes Educators is dedicated to the advancing the role of the diabetes educator and improving the quality of diabetes education and care.

    American Association of Diabetes Educators Goals:

    • AADE will advance recognition of diabetes education as central to quality diabetes care.
    • AADE will promote professional development.
    • AADE will increase demand for diabetes education within the evolving healthcare system.
    • AADE will develop the organization that effectively and efficiently meets member needs.

    www.diabeteseducator.org - The American Association of Diabetes Educators – The national organization over our GCVADE chapter. This website includes more information on diabetes educators, research, continuing education, and more.

    www.ncbde.org - National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators – This website is intended to share the details of the certification status for diabetes educators and to promote excellence in the profession of diabetes education through the development, maintenance, and protection of the CERTIFIED DIABETES EDUCATOR (CDE) credential and certification process.

    www.diabetes.org - American Diabetes Association – This site offers a wealth of information regarding diabetes advocacy, research, and lots more.

    www.childrenwithdiabetes.com - Children With Diabetes – This is an excellent resource for parents and children with diabetes.

    Membership in the Greater Chattahoochee Valley Association of Diabetes Educators membership provides these and other benefits:

    • Local meetings to keep you up-to-date on new therapies, tends and national diabetes issues
    • Social and networking functions are offered to join diabetes educators and healthcare providers who have similar interests in diabetes related services
    • Notification of beneficial topic specific continuing education offerings to support your professional practice status (targeted offerings supply CEU’s for RN, RD, Pharmacist and other professional disciplines)
    • Our general membership dues of $15.00 are affordable and open to those who are in good standing as members of AADE national organization.
    • Resource sharing – our chapter members are known for their willingness to assist each other via sharing diabetes teaching tools, options for professional enrichment and as mentors regarding differing aspects of diabetes management.

    To become a member, download the membership application below, print it, and bring it with your check made payable to GCVADE to the next meeting or mail to: Lisa Smith – GCVADE 1802 - 29th Street Valley AL, 36854

    The preferred GCVADE Membership year is from July 1 to June 30. The membership can be re-newed per the anniversary date of joining for those who join mid-year...this is also true for joining AADE. The non-corporate or General Membership dues are $15.00 annually and a corporate/vendor membership is $50.00 annually.

    Have you put off joining AADE and our local GCVADE chapter? If so, now is the time to join and you will have 12 months of membership with a renewal date of 12 months from the date of joining. Consider joining AADE and the local GCVADE via the www.diabeteseducator.org website. Chapter dues of $15.00 may also be provided at our upcoming meetings.

    AADE National has adopted “Anniversary Billing”! This allows new members to join anytime and maintain a full 12 months of membership. New members will have a membership renewal date based on when he/she initially joined.
