ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome back to school Gentian Chargers!! This school year is sure to be an exciting one and I hope you are ready for it! We have added a few new items to show our "Gentian Pride". We are proud to offer round car magnets that sport the Gentian mascot and "Gentian Chargers" writing for only $4.00. Also, we have window clings with the same design for $2.00 and super duty magnetic chip clips for $1.00. If you would like to order any of these items, please simply send a note, along with the money in a sealed envelope and mark it "PTA". Your child's teacher will pass it on to the PTA officers.
We are also pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Chick-Fil-A in Peachtree Mall for Spirit Night!! Gentian Spirit Nights will be held on the third Thursday of each month, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!!

Fall Fundraiser

We started our Fall Fundraiser on September 7th and it is looking good already. Each Wednesday throught September 28th, our students will be turning in their order forms and earning a new duck for their "duck collections". Also, the homeroom with the highest sales total from each grade level will earn a pig for our Annual Pig Race at the Fall Festival. As of today, are current leading classes per grade are: KDG - Mrs. Norsworthy, 1st grade - Mrs. Garrett, 2nd grade - Mrs. Turner, 3rd grade - Mrs. Chavez, 4th grade - Mr. Moore, and 5th grade - Mrs. Lane. Remember to turn in your order forms each Wednesday and help your class win a pig for the race!!

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to anyone who believes in the Mission and Purposes of the National Parent Teacher Association. Every person who joins a local PTA automatically becomes a member of both the State and National PTAs. PTA is a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child. We encourage you to use the links on the left side of this webpage, and visit the State and National PTA websites. These websites explain what PTA is, what PTA does, provides links to helpful resources, and also information on other "perks" of being a member. Please also keep in mind that we do not have "family" memberships, and would love for both parents to become Gentian PTA members. During the 2010-11 school year, your membership dues helped us to provide bottled water for the clinic, a free yearbook to each student, and also provided funding for the Fall Festival, Field Day, Student Awards, Fifth Grade Awards Night Reception, and Teacher Appreciation.

Joining PTA is one of the easiest ways to show your support for your child, your child's teacher and the school. Many of our parents work or simply do not have the time to volunteer their personal time at the school. By joining PTA, you ARE supporting your school. "I don't have time for PTA", "I haven't joined PTA for the last few years", "I don't want to volunteer"...these are statements told to me during Verification Day. Please consider taking a few minutes to complete the membership form. Joining PTA does not commit you to anything other than carrying your PTA membership card proudly. Spirit Wear

Every Friday is Spirit Day at Gentian. We are pleased to announce that, in addition to our red, pink, blue, and purple t-shirts, we are re-introducing Gentian green to our stock! Our youth t-shirts are $7.00 and adults t-shirts start at $10.00. We also have heather gray Gentian hoodies for $15.00, available in either zip-up or pullover styles. Order forms are available in the front office, or you may request that one be sent home with your child by emailing us at gentianchargerspta@yahoo.com. Orders are typically filled within 48 hours.
