REGIONAL & NATIONAL TRAINING

Have you made plans to attend our regional training program (RTP). Next year it's in Pensacola Beach, Florida at the Hamilton Inn, on February 10-12. Room cost are $99 sound side and $107.00 for the Gulf side. Reserve your room by calling 800-320-8108 and ask for group reservations.

Special events during these dates are the Mardi Gras Parade on the beach during the weekend. The latest info is at Pensacola Chapter of FEW.

DIVERSITY

FEW's Diversity Program develops strategies to identify and eliminate barriers within the federal government. FEW examines the demographics of the workforce according to age, race, sex, ethnic background, religious affiliation, disability and sexual orientation and seeks to expand the notion of cultural groups beyond the categories protected by law and regulation to include socioeconomic status, body-size diversity and family composition.
Diversity relates to Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity legislation but strives to exceed the mandates of the employment laws. FEW's philosophy regarding diversity is all about results.
FEW's National Training Program offers and conducts diversity training annually.

EDUCATION AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year the Southeast Region will present a scholarship for actual expenses up to the amount of $1,000.00 to be used to attend the Regional Training Program (RTP). The Southeast Region Treasurer will forward the registration fee to the host chapter and the remaining amount will be paid to the winner at the RTP to be applied toward room or transportation.

Applicants for the Southeast Region applying for the Martha Lyle Scholarship must be a member of FEW for at least one (1) year and actively participating in meetings and programs. In addition, they will have during the past two years, served as an officer, committee chair or a member who has actively participated in the chapter and be involved in self-improvement (education, workshops, seminars, training, etc.) and community activities. Finally, they will support the goals of FEW and FWP and not a member of the current RTP host chapter. The process is easy...just complete the application (if you did not received the e-mail with application info - e-mail sskellie@cdc.gov and it will be forwarded to you), write a short essay on how membership in FEW has influenced your career (100 - 200 words) and postmark it no later than 30 Decemebr 2010.

See you at the RTP in Pensacola!!
