Welcome! News for November 9 - 13

Hannan had a wonderful fall festival! Thank you to the parents that donated candy and offered their time to help at our booth. Our fishing booth got quite a bit of business! :) Thank you!

*A Peek at the Week*

Our phonics focus is the long o sound spelled oa and the digraph sounds oi and oy. Examples: oa – goat, oi – coin, oy – boy.

This week we are working with synonyms and parts of a sentence (subject & predicate).

We are working on reading and solving addition word problems.

Addition and subtraction are ongoing. Please practice these facts nightly!

We are still having fun with our post card exchange! We have received almost 20 cards!

Word Work

Spelling patterns: -oa, oi, oy

Examples of each spelling pattern: throat, spoil, toy

Have your child practice spelling or writing the example word. Then, say a few words that rhyme and have the SAME spelling pattern. Have them spell/write those words as practice.

  Homework

Monday: Write 3 nouns and tell if they name a person, place, thing, or animal.

Tuesday: Count by 2’s to 30 and write the numbers.

Wednesday: Write a synonym for each word: big, nice, mad.

Thursday: Make sure you’re ready for the spelling test!

You should also:

* Read or have someone read to you!

* Practice sight words!

* Practice addition & subtraction flashcards!

*Mission Statement*

We are committed to providing educational experiences that will enable each student to become a lifelong learner, enter the work force with necessary skills, and achieve academic and personal potential.
