"What if I couldn't?"
Life can be extra challenging for a kid with special needs. Meeting people and making friends can be tough. But kids who use a wheelchair or have lots of health problems want friends just like you do. Some friendly things you might do are to carry the person's books, open a door, or ask him or her to join you and your friends at lunch. Be sure to tell a teacher if you see someone being bullied or teased. But don’t be "overly helpful" when no help is needed! Why? Because just like you, kids with special needs like to be as independent as they can be. As you get to know them, they may help you understand what it's like to be in their shoes. And you'll be helping fill a very special need, one that everybody has — the need for good friends.
Georgia on My Mind
Georgia was one of the 13 original states! Today it is the tenth largest state in the USA. Georgia has mountains, farmlands, big and little cities, and even an Atlantic Ocean coastline. Keep Georgia on your mind as you discover more about “the Peach State.”
Girl Scout Challenge 1 for Girl Scout Brownies
MOUNTAIN JUBILEE
For over 21 years, Girl Scouts have been camping with their fathers at Mountain Jubilee. These special fall weekends are designed for dads and daughters to relax and enjoy time together in a beautiful outdoor setting.
SERENDIPITY WEEKEND
In her mother, a daughter sees her foundation; her history and the lives of all those women who came before her. She sees herself and understands what it means to be a woman. Set aside a Serendipity weekend at Camp Meriwether with your Girl Scout daughter to help her explore her foundations through you. The wonderful part about this weekend is that you and your daughter decide what you want to do together. We're just there to help you be together.
