A Message from Mathews' Principal, Mrs. Kay Dowis:    Welcome to Mathews Elementary School, home of the Terrific Tigers! Mathews Elementary School is known for its excellence in achievement, rich traditions and family atmosphere. When you walk through the doors you will feel at home. This is a school where teachers want their own children to attend. Children are safe, nurtured, educated and affirmed. Our family is a diverse family of many nationalities. There are many ways you can be involved whether through our very strong PTA or our active business partners, Lithokrome, Upatoi Methodist Church and The Cottonmouths. You’ll love being a Terrific Tiger!

Cornerstone School  Mathews Elementary School is now a Cornerstone School. What is Cornerstone? The Cornerstone Vision is one in which students are taught “To read, to write, to think critically, to reason, to analyze and evaluate information, to communicate effectively in a variety of forms, and to inquire systematically into any important matter.” For more information on Cornerstone, please click on the Cornerstone link to the left.

ATTENTION!!!
Why Be There? When you connect with your child every day, your child benefits for life. When he or she knows you care and are concerned about education, the following occurs: Achievement in school improves; students earn higher grades and test scores and enroll in higher-level programs. Children want to go to school, Courses are passed, credits earned and students are promoted to the next grade. Self-confidence improves, Children have better social skills and behavior at home and at school. Students graduate from high school and go on to postsecondary education.
