Meeting called to order at 10:32am.
Bonnie announced new Board
meeting time as 10:30am for
remainder of year.
January 11th Board Meeting minutes approved as written.
Tom Klingal, of ICoachMath.com,
gave presentation of math program.
ICoachMath.com is a teaching aid that can be used at home to check and
reteach homework. Flyers
distributed. ICoachMath.com
program to be used in practice CRCT testing for all grades to identify
weaknesses.
Principal’s Report:
Dr. Oprey unable to attend meeting.
Treasurer’s Report:
See attached Budget.
Revisions were made in order to balance budget. Motion made by Tami
Shearer to approve revised budget, vote
called, motion passed.

Motion made by Melanie McNaughton to approve Tami Shearer as
new 6th VP-Special Events, vote called, motion passed.
Legislative Update:
Sue Derene
reporting.
The “Old Milton site” will be used for administrative
offices.
Behavioral Disorder students currently enrolled at Independence
High School will be moved to a
program in a “storefront” location, making room for more students.
The Fulton County Board of Education Financial audit is not
back in its entirety, but thus far reports 60-70 million dollars borrowed from
SPLOST I for programs in SPLOST II. These funds are not to be mingled so to
correct the problem the Board of Education will take the above amount from the
General Fund to pay back SPLOST I.
Sue advised everyone that
this may appear in the newspapers as a benefit to schools north of the river
only.
Kathy Bloom
asked the difference in SPLOST I and II.
Sue clarified that each contained different
programs voted on by taxpayers.
Thursday, February 10th is the next Board of Education
meeting. Patrick
Burke is expected to discuss enrollment
projections. Sue
reminded of the need for representation at this meeting. Lisa will
attend the roundtable discussion at 5pm.

Mary Haney
asked if there was any expectation of trailers at the new Milton
campus. Sue knew of no such plans.

Old Business:
Parent to Parent: Linda
Jones reporting.
30 parents were enrolled for the January 24th session. This is a success. Most parents were from Northwestern and 3 of
the 4 facilitators were Northwestern parents. The next session will be in mid
February.
Renaissance:
Results listed in the newsletter. School is pleased with the
number of students who made Honor Roll. Kasia will post results on the
website. Kathy
Bloom asked that Perfect Attendance Award be
defined. Lisa explained that it includes the 9
week period, students cannot miss any class or be
tardy.
Music Showcase: Susan
Hummert reporting.
The Milton String Quartet will play on February 24th in the
Atrium.
Grounds Beautification: Kathy Christman
reporting.
An Arbor Day program will be held at 12:30pm today for 6th and 7th graders in the outdoor
classroom. 8 trees, native species, will be planted around the campus. Many were given free of charge. Julie
Johnson and Jr. Beta members will be
responsible for watering the new trees.
The patio sidewalk project is underway.
New Business:
6th Grade South American Day: Those who volunteered to bring
food are reminded to bring finger foods that do not contain peanuts or tree nuts(to avoid allergic reactions). Decorations and Bingo prizes are still
needed. Drop them in container in front
office. Decorations should be
labeled. Sally
Caudle will check with counselor regarding
the conflict of the party and 5th grade tour ambassador duties.
7th Grade Health Fair: Will be held on March 18th.
8th Grade Dance: Sheri
Finn and Sally
Caudle reporting.
Next meeting is this Thursday Februaty 10th. Plans are going
well as they have many creative volunteers.
The date for the dance is May 6th.
Winter Gallery: Sally
Caudle reporting.
Artists are scheduled to demonstrate in the Atrium. Visual Arts will be displayed in the Media
Center. Contact Sally
with entries.
Nominating Committee:
Email Sally Hildebrant ASAP
with position/job intent for next year.
Dr. Oprey
will host “Vertical Meeting” Wednesday, February 23rd. Purpose of this meeting is for Milton
and Northwestern department heads to tie curriculums together for a smoother
transiton. Refreshments are needed, a sign up list passed out. Charlotte Owens and Tami Shearer
coordinating and providing sandwiches. Bring donations to the PTA room
Tuesday February 22nd.
