A small band of Christians met in the O'Quinn School House on May 12, 1912 to organize and constitute The O'Quinn Baptist Church. The Presbytery consisted of J.A. Clark (Moderator), John E. Smith (Clerk), Rev. P.I. Douglas, Rev. W.D. Crosby, Rev. Tom Ponsell, and J.E. Brady.
There were eleven members to form this new church: Rev. and Mrs. W.D. Crosby, Rev. and Mrs. J.E. Brady, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith, Miss Gertie Crosby, Mattie Burkhalter, Cornelia Smith, and two Deacons; John Smith and Dewey Smith.
On December 13th, 1912, a building committee was formed. The first wooden building was erected on land donated by Jim Surrency, which is the present Church site. The building was dedicated in 1914, with 25 members present, and C.F. Burke serving as Pastor.

The present building was constructed in 1954 with Rev. James Bacon serving as Pastor.

In 1962, full time services (two on Sunday, with a prayer meeting on Wednesday) began with the Rev. L.A. Colding serving as Pastor.

In 1964 work on the Church Parsonage began. The Rev. Carl Ledbetter was the first Pastor to live in the Parsonage.

In 1973 construction of the Fellowship Hall, additional Sunday School rooms, and the Baptismal Pool began under the Pastorate of Rev. Ronnie Litton. The work was completed and dedicated in 1975 with Rev. Vernon Rogers serving as Pastor.

Since 2005 the church has seen many renovations. A Pastor’s office and Church office have been remodeled and added to the church. The outdoor stage has been covered. The new addition of classroom space has been completed. Projection, Audio, Video, and Lighting equipment has been added in the Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, Nursery, and Youth Room. The playground has been fenced in. Commercial lawn equipment has been purchased. The fellowship hall has been totally renovated. The passage behind the sanctuary has been remodeled, And we are currently raising funds for a complete playground for our Children.

The church has ordained 5 Ministers, and 16 Deacons. The church has had 28 Pastors with Rev. Larry A. Copley currently serving.

O'Quinn Baptist Church has been, and continues to be a vital ministry in our community.
