Project Linus Sew Day!

Next Blanket Day Please come and join us at our next "play day" which will be November 12th at the library in Richmond Hill from 1-5pm. The library is located on highway 144 between the 95 exit and highway 17. The Richmond Hiull Library is our new headquarters!!!! All sewers and non-sewers are welcome. Please bring a sewing machine if you can and general sewing supplies (pins, scissors, etc). This month we are working to get quilts layered and ready for binding and quilting. If you are a knitter or crocheter come join our event too! You can also pick up a kit to be sewn at home for drop off when you're done. Kits can be picked up on playdates or Mondays/Wednesdays at the library conference room. It's as easy as smiling!

Where have all the Quilts Gone?

Quarterly Report: 135 blankets were completed. Recipents of our blankets were: Backus Children's Hospital, American Red Cross of Richmond Hill, Tri County Women's Shelter, Interfaith Hospitality, and foster infants in Richmond Hill 1854 BLANKETS!!! That is how many blankets were delivered to children in need from our chapter since our inception.

What are we looking for in a blanket?

All blankets must be clean and well made. The chapter asks that you use sturdy, new fabrics (cotton works well)or yarns. Big or small we'll take 'em all. Blankets are donated to children ages infant to eighteen who are currently in stressful situations. The children may have lost their home in a fire, be in foster care, or have a congenital health problem. The blankets can have any theme or color the blanketeer wants to use. Thanks in advance for all the wonderful blankets the children will receive.

Changes in Leadership
Carole has decided to step down as the PL coordinator as she is lucky enough to spend half the year living in the mountains. While we are sad to see her go, Judy (who's been co-coordinator for a while and doing a great job) will be assuming the coordinator mantle. Pam Peterman will be her assistant (you can reach her at richmondhillpair@yahoo.com ) As always PL in our area will continue thanks to the leadership of these wonderful ladies and most especially all of our blanketeeers!! Welcome Judy and Pam.
 THANK YOU
Judy and Pam would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to all the blanketeers. Kudos also go out to all those that donated money and supplies. We could not do this without all of you. Children all over southern Ga thank you too.

How You Can Contribute

The Greater Savannah Chapter is always looking for more blanketeers. Blankets need to be handmade, clean and can come in any style, shape, or color. Our chapter accepts monetary donations as well as new, clean material (preferably cotton), yarn, batting, and all other blanket materials. Besides private distributions, we have placed blankets with several local agencies such as Memorial Hospital, fire and police stations, and Greenbriar Children's Home. You can drop donations and blankets at Wild Fibre Yarns (downtown Sav.), Colonial Quilts (southside Sav),or Richmond Hill Animal Hospital. If you have any questions contact Carole Wood at 925-0055.
