Congratulations to Mr. Troy McGarr this year's Teacher of the Year for Richards Middle School. Mr. McGarr is a 7th grade science teacher and he will represent Richards in the district wide Teacher of the Year competition this spring.

NJHS Valentine Gram Sale will begin on Wednesday, February 8 and continue through Friday, February 10 during all lunch periods. Buy Valentine Grams for your friends from an NJHS member at the table in the cafeteria. The cost is only $1. NJHS will deliver each Valentine Gram to homeroom on Tuesday, February 14. See Mrs. Bingham or an NJHS member with any questions.

Chorus Cookie Dough Fundraiser is going on through Monday, February 13. See a chorus student or Mrs. Jones to purchase your tub of cookie dough. Funds raised pay for music, a new sound system and a possible Six Flags trip.

Warrior families, please remember to update your contact information with Mrs. Blankenship in the front office. Faculty & staff need to be able to contact you in cases of medical emergencies, discipline situations or questions regarding your child's well being.

Remember also, that in order to access the parent portal that permits you to see your child's attendence record, grades, or messages from the school or the district from your home or work computer or your smart phone, the front office must have the correct e-mail address(es) for one or both parents or guardians activated in the Richards' system. Contact Mrs. Blankenship in the front office with any questions.

Yearbook Baby Pictures

Parents: Send a digital copy image of your child as a baby or toddler to be included in the yearbook's Baby Photo section. Please be sure to include your child's name and grade. You may e-mail the photo to Mrs. Cowart at Cowart.Lisa.C@muscogee.k12.ga.us or if you have the image saved on a jump drive you may arrange a time to meet with Mrs. Cowart so she can transfer the image. Hurry! The deadline is Thursday, March 1.

Yearbook "Community Upload"

The yearbook company has a new feature this year called "Community Upload." This allows users with our access code to upload appropriate pictures to be considered for use in our yearbook. See Mrs. Cowart for our access code and thanks for sharing your pictures of our Warriors!

Box Tops for Education

The Box Tops for Education program is a way to raise funds for our PTSA while you shop for your regular purchases.

When you purchase General Mills products such as baking, beverage, cereal, frozen, paper, refrigerated, snacks, storage and container products as well as school and office supplies, look for the Box Tops for Education squares.

Turn in the squares each time you sign and return your child's progress reports. Richards PTSA receives .10 cents for each box top.

Last semester, we earned $891 from clipping and turning in Box Tops on products we already purchase.

Remember to collect box tops all year long, and return them with your child's signed progress report.

Go to boxtops4education.com for a complete list of products and any additional information.

 Publix Partners Card

Stop by the front office to pick up your Publix Partners card. When you do your regular shopping at any local Publix, give the cashier your card to scan at check-out so that Richards will receive a percentage of your sale.

In the last quarter, we earned $118.37. In the last year, we earned $444.71 .

The money goes into the Richards General Activity Fund and supplements school wide activities and items that range from Science Olympiad to locker costs.

Remember to use your Publix Partners card every time you shop at your local Publix grocery store.

Volunteers

Volunteers play a vital part in PTSA and at Richards. While the nature of volunteering changes from elementary to middle schools, the benefits for your child, the teachers, faculty and staff do not change. Your help makes a difference.

There are many opportunities to volunteer either at school, from home or on trips. If your time is tightly scheduled, donate materials, money or resources. All donations of time, money and resources are welcome and greatly appreciated.
