Parents,

At the beginning of the school year, your child will begin learning about place value and rounding numbers. Students should be able to identify and read numbers in each place value up to the milliions place. Students will also be introduced to rounding numbers to the tens, hundreds, and thousands place. Students will also be comparing numbers as they examine the digit in each place value. Please talk to your child about using the correct sign such as <,>,and = as they compare numbers. In addition, students will be writing numbers in various ways such as standard form, word form, and expanded form. Thanks in advance for your assistance as your child learns important mathematical standards in fourth grade.

Thanks,

Mrs. Richardson

Weekly Newletter

(Week of August 30th-Sept. 3rd)

Parents,

I am excited about the new school year. Fourth grade will be filled with new standards and a variety of experiences for your child. Please feel free to visit my classroom and become involved in your child's new learning environment. Encourage your child to read and complete homework daily. Homework is very important due to the fact that students need this opportunity to review what standards have been taught in class. In addition, the focus for homework will be reading and extending vocabulary in all subject areas. It is extremely important that students also use the terminology that has been used in class. Please ask your child questions about various words that might have been used in math, reading, science, etc. for each school day. With your help, I know it will be the best school year ever.

Thanks,

Mrs. Richardson
