Heberews 4:12 - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Galatians 6:7-9

7. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

This is a sermon God give me and I would like to share it with you. I hope it is a blessing and a help.

God has called us Christians to be workers. If we go out and do nothing then we should not expect to see anything happen. But if we do everything we can to fulfill God's commands and His will for our lives then we will be able to see fruits of God working in our lives.

I. Things To Sow & Not To Sow

- Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

A. Love Not Hate
Christ said to love one another even as He loved us. -

John 13:34-35 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Holman Bible Dictionary - love is the unselfish, loyal, and benevolent concern for the well-being of another.

Christ had a love for the world. He wanted the well-being for the world. So he went to the cross.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Christians should show love to their fellow Christians and encourage one another. But we also should show love to our enemies. - Matthew 5:43-44 - Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Christians should have love in everything we do. If not then it is vain.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 - Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.
7. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

B. A Christain Should Sow Joy Not Sorrow

What is the difference between joy and happiness?

  • Joy is everlasting.
  • Happiness only lasts for a while.

The word joy is mentioned over 200 times in the bible. The word rejoice is mentioned over 200 times as well.
Phillipians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

The Bible tells us that we can have joy unspeakable through Christ.

1 Peter 1:8 - Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

- We as Christians should have joy because we have victory according to

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 - O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

But most Christians walk around in defeat and sorrow because they refuse to let God show them real joy.

You cannot expect to have real joy if you are seeking it in the world. Here in Ecclesiastes 2 it tells us the story of a man who went seeking for joy in the world and ended up more miserablt than in the beginning.

Ecclesiastes 2:1-11,26 - 1. I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
2. I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it?
3. I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.
4. I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
5. I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
6. I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:
7. I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
8. I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
9. So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
10. And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
11. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
26. For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Only Serving God Will Bring Joy!

C. Peace Not Chaos

Holman Bible Dictionary - Peace is a sense of well-being and fulfilling that comes from God and is dependent on His presence.

  • No God, No Peace
  • Know God, Know Peace

Phillipians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
According to this verse, the only way you can have peace is through Jesus Christ.

- If God has told you to do something for Him and you are worried about how to do it then you are not letting God show you true peace. Don't worry about how you are going to do what God told you to do, just be faithful in doing it. He knows what He is doing.
John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

D. Longsuffering Not Impatience

Longsuffering or Patience - enduring pain, delay, etc. without complaint; perserverence.

Perserverence - to continue in spite of difficulty.

- No matter what you think is about to happen in a battle or storm you may be going through just keep on marching forward.

Revelation 21:7 - He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Matthew 24:13 - But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mark 13:13 - And ye shall be hated of all men for my name is sake; but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
2 Timothy 2:3 - Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

-- God will bring you out of your storms just keep trusting in Him.
-- Example - Job lost everything, but he endured unto the end. As a result, Job regained more than he had to begin with.

REMEMBER GOD HAS EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL!

E. Gentleness and Goodness

--Gentleness - Gracious;kindly disposition.
--Goodness - Ready to do good;Love in action.
- If you have love then you will have gentleness and goodness.

F. Faithfullness

-- Faith - unquestioning belief.

A Christian without faith is not a Christian. Why? Here is why:

  • Without faith you cannot be saved -
Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
  • Without faith you could not have peace.
Ephesians 6:23 - Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. - You have to have faith to believe God can help you.
  • Without faith you could not serve God.
    1. Without faith you would not believe in the Bible.
    2. Without faith you would not believe in God.
    3. Without faith you would not believe in Christ.
      • You have to believe Christ lived a sinless life.
      • You have to believe Christ was born of a virgin.
      • You have to believe that Christ went to Calvary's hill to die on a cross.
      • You have to have faith to believe He arose after three days in a tomb.
      • You have to have faith to believe that Christ went to Hell to grab the keys of hell and death (Rev 1:18).
  • A Christian without faith is not a Christian.

Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

-One day God might ask you to do something and you may think it is impossible or even crazy because you are in the flesh and your flesh does not have the faith required to do some things that God asks you to do. That is why we question God when He asks us to do things. But if we just put our faith and trust in God he will show you how to do it and He will help you through it.

God has said in Matthew 25:21 that if we are faithful over the small things He asks of us to do then He will reward us with bigger things in Heaven.

Matthew 25:21 - His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

G. Meekness Not Pride

-- Meekness - controlled strength; a personality trait of gentleness and humility.

-When you are meek and humble you won't look for recognition in the things you do for God. You will be humble and you will serve God better as a servant than a master and commander.

- Jesus was the best example of a meek person

  • Matthew 11:29 - Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

H. Temperance

- Temperance - the rational restraint of natural impulses; self-control.

Proverbs 25:28 - He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

- In order to serve God we must have a control over ourselves. We must make ourselves:

  1. Pray
  2. Study our Bible
  3. Walk in the will God has for you.

    II. The Harvest

-- Eventually if you have have sown something you will see the fruit of what you have sown.

Matthew 7:16-20 - Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
    17. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
    18. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
    19. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
    20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

    III.Don't Be Weary

    - Weary - to give up the fight.

    - God wants you to keep on sowing in the Lord and to keep on fighting for the cause of the cross.

2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

    - If we do not get weary and give up then we will see the fruits of what we have sown eventually. Whether it be increased faith and wisdom and boldness or whether it be more souls that have been saved. Just don't give up the fight.
