In Ephesians chapter six, God has warned us to put on The Full Armor. Ephesians 6:10-18 - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

I will begin now and explain what each verse means and why it is so important to put on the full armor of the Lord.
Verse 10 commands us to be strong in the Lord, which means to call on God in prayer and try to walk as close as you can to Him. It means to simply rely on God as He has plainly told us all throughout the Bible.
Verse 11 tells us to be sure to put on our armor or else the devil will have an advantage on you. The word Wiles means tricks or temptations. Satan knows each and every one of our weaknesses and knows how to get us away from God. Think of it as a day of fishing. Satan knows exactly which lures to use on different people. So this is why God has commanded us to put on our armor or else we won't be able to withstand temptations.
Verse 12 explains about the rulers of darkness, Satan and his demons, that we must fight each and every day. This is again why it is important to put your armor because then you stand a better chance against Satan and his demons.
Verse 13 is saying exactly what I just said about verse 12. Verse 14 starts into the armor and begins talking about the loins. Well the armor in literal terms would be the same as a Roman soldier would wear, but in spiritual terms each piece of the armor protects something. The Loins were like a cloak or sash to hold your clothing up. In other words you would trip over your clothing. Well if we don't know the truth then we will be easily deceived. This is why it is important for us to stay in prayer and study God's word, so we can know the truth. Also in verse 14 the breastplate of righteousness protects our heart. We have to keep our hearts protected to keep them pure and holy. The breastplate is there to protect against temptations and lust that the devil might throw out there at you on the battlefield and to keep your heart clean.
Verse 15 tells us to prepare out feet with the gospel of peace. Imagine being on a giant rock and you have no shoes on and because of the water around it you slide off and get hurt. Well in literal terms that is us when we don't study God's word, we fall off the rock because of sin. Well the Bible tells you to prepare your feet with the gospel so you can stand firmly on the rock and not fall off when the water comes your way. Remember Jesus Christ is the Rock and we must do everything in our power to be right there beside Him.
Verse 16 tells us to put on the shield of faith. Faith, in my definition, is Stepping out on nothing, but standing on something. God has promised to protect us if we have faith in Him and trust in Him.
The helmet of salvation in verse 17 explains that this helmet is what protects our mind. If we don't have this on then we are in big trouble. The mind controls everything the body does and everything you put into your body will eventually come out. So if you stay around a lot of cussing, you will eventually start cussing too. So it is important to protect our minds and keep Godly thoughts in our heads only. In verse 17 it also tells us to take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Bible. This is true, because if we don't take the sword then we have no way of defending ourselves. It is important to study God's word to be ready for Satan when he comes for you.
And verse 18 tells us to pray with all prayer and supplication, which means that God wants us to call on Him anytime that we need Him and even when we don't. Whatever our needs may be God will supply everyone one according to His will.
