Welcome to Mr. Woods Class                             Welcome to Mr. Woods website. Stay tuned for exciting changes every week. As you read below please note that I will constantly be updating the assignment sheet for both grade levels. My planning period is from 11:00-11:45 daily. The assignment sheet will be updated each nine weeks. If you have any questions or comments please let me know. Currently we are in the third nine weeks. My grading policy is as follows 33% Warm-up/Participation 33% Classwork & Homework 34 % Test & Projects.
 
This week in Georgia History  This week we will be working on power point presentations that will put important events in Georgia from 1877-1918 in a timeline. Students will be expected to use pictures & their own words to complete the timeline. Students will work in groups of two & will share a computer. The important facts will be outlined in the scoring rubric that each student will receive on Wedesday, Jan. 13th. If you have any questions please let me know.
 
World Cultures ( 6th Grade)
World Cultures third nine weeks assignment sheet--Week One Warm Up’s Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010—Teotihuacan • Use page 168 to describe the city of Teotihuacan & the accomplishments of this city. Why was the city important? Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010--The Mayan People • Use pages 169 & 170 to describe the Mayan people. Include the location where the Mayan people lived & include some of the accomplishments. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010--Maya Trade • Use page 171 to describe the Maya trading & culture. What types of products were made & traded? Friday, Jan. 8, 2010--Aztec Life • Use pages 171 & 173 to describe Aztec life. What were some contributions that the Aztec made that still exist today? Week Two Warm Up’s Monday, Jan. 11, 2010--The Inca Empire • Use page 175 & 176 to describe the Inca Empire, pay close attention to the picture on page 176. What does this picture tell you about the Inca’s? Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010--Spanish Conquest in the Americas • Use pages 180 & 181 in your book to describe the Spanish conquest of the Aztec. Who was the Spanish leader & why did they conquer the Aztec? Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010--The Inca Empire is conquered • Use page 181 in your book to describe the defeat of the Inca Empire at the hands of Spanish Conquistador Francisco Pizarro. Thursday, January 14, 2010--Spanish Colonizing of the Americas • Use page 181 to describe the Spanish colonization of the Americas. How were those captured by the Spanish treated & what evidence is there that the Spanish took control? Friday, January 15, 2010--Simon Bolivar • Use page 182 in your book, & your internet research to describe the contributions of Simon Bolivar. What were his major accomplishments & why is a country named in his honor? This week in World Cultures (6th Grade)
This week students will be working on the Spanish Conquistador project. Students will use individual computers & paired with another student while working on the project. Students will be expected to have pictures & informational slides that detail the Spanish conquest of the Americas in the early 1500's.
