WAI Hawaii 50 Chapter

At present, Hawaii 50 is comprised of Student Pilots and Flight Instructors as well as General Aviation, Corporate, Regional Airline, Major Airline and Military pilots. In addition, our members include Aircraft Owners, Aircraft Mechanics, Flight Attendants, Dispatchers, Reservationists and faculty members from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Universtiy, Hawaii Pacific University and the University of Hawaii.

Our goal is to provide networking, programs that include local speakers, tours of aviation facilities, and eventually regional scholarship opportunities. We are also dedicated to community outreach efforts to encourage young people to pursue aviation careers, and to provide volunteer opportunities to our chapter members in order for them to become more marketable when applying for jobs and national scholarships.

WAI Hawaii 50 News

Our chapter has received an Aerospace Merit Badge Kit from the WAI national headquarters. This kit will allow us to work closely with the Girl Scout troops in the state to teach them about possible careers in aviation, aerodynamics of flight, astronauts, and famous women flyers.

On November 3rd 2007 we held "Women in Aviation Day" for local Girl Scouts to earn their merit badges. We had a great time and still need lots of help, so anyone interested in participating in this worthwhile volunteer work - let us know!
