Friends of MWR ID card & Firearms Registration All SRGC members must have a valid ID card (Military, DOD, Friend of MWR ID). Firearms brought onto Schofield Barracks must be registered on base. Owners of firearms must bring completed Hawaii state registration approval forms to vehicle registration office at Leilehua Gulf Course in order to register weapons on base. Vehicle registration and Friends of MWR is located at Lelehua Golf Course. These functions are located in the detached building on the far right side of the golf course Pro Shop as you face it from the parking lot. You will need a local ID with Social Security number for Friends of MWR card, and current Registration, safety check, insurance for vehicle pass. Office hours are Mon./Tues./Wed. 0900-1530, Thur. 1200-1530. Their number is 655-8940 For firearms registration, bring your State of Hawaii Registration Forms that were given to you when you registered your firearms with HPD. DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS! Take a number upon entering the office. Upon being called to talk to a clerk, inform them that you need to register firearms on base due to your membership in the Schofield Rod & Gun Club. You'll be given a blank APLE form 9, Weapons Registration Record (a 4.25" by 5.5" yellow card). Completion of the form is self-explanatory. If any questions as the clerk. Once you complete the card, the clerk will compare it against the information on your State of Hawaii firearms registration forms. If everything matches, the clerk will enter all the information into their computer database. At the end of this process, the clerk will sign and stamp the APLE Form 9 and give it to you. This is your proof of having registered the firearm(s) on post. The card notes that individuals will have the card in their possession when transporting the noted firearms. We reccomend that if you plan on obtaining and using additional firearms at SRGC ranges in the future, that you ask the clerk if you can take a couple of APLE 9's with you so you can have the cards already filled out upon your arrival the next time you register firearms there. This will make the process quicker for you and the clerk. Weapons (firearms) must be transported IAW State of Hawaii Revised Statutes regarding transport of firearms (cased and unloaded). In addition, USAHAW Reg. 210-8 Section 2, page 4, "Firearms Weapons/Explosives Transport", states that: Magazines must be removed from weapon during transport, breach must remain opened, weapon needs to be broken down to component parts, (i.e. front and rear receiver group), weapons must be transported in an appropriate locking case, weapon must be transported in compartment separate from passengers when possible. |
