FISHER_HOUSE.jpgWelcome to Tripler Army Medical Center Fisher Houses

All guests are encouraged to take advantage of the rest of the house. Common areas include the living room, family room, dining room as well as a beautiful spacious kitchen, laundry room and lanai with a million dollar view.

Our front living rooms have a toy box with games for the children, we have a library that has both books and movies for all ages. The family room off the kitchen is eqipped with a big screen TV that has a VCR, kareoke machine and a Nintendo Wii hooked up. It opens to the kitchen so that the whole family can spend time together while preparing a meal. Outside the homes we have a designated area to grill and also to smoke. Down the hill at Fisher House I we have a gated playground for the families to enjoy.

Each house has a dream kitchen equipped with double ovens, countertop stoves, sub zero refrigeration, microwaves and a dishwasher. Our cabinets are well stocked with bakeware, dishes, glasses, utensils and food. Personal storage area for both cold foods and dry foods are provided for each room. Across from the kitchen is a large dining room with seating for 20-25 people. No food is allowed to be consumed outside of the kitchen/dining room area.

Just off the kitchen is a fully equipped laundry room with 2 sets of washer/dryers. Detergent and cleaning supplies are all provided to the residents. Currently there is no costs associated with a stay at our TAMC Fisher Houses.

The unique thing about these homes is that the families are not only guests, but volunteers who will be responsible for the upkeep of the home during their stay, as if it were their own home. There is no maid service or room service available.

The intent is to create a nurturing home like atmosphere that fosters rehabilitative opportunities to reintegrate the soldiers and families back into their normal lifestyle as quickly as possible.

Your donations by way of volunteer hours in the home, administrative support to the home, food donations, regular household comfort items, baby items and consumable products such as cleaning supplies and paper goods are greatly needed and appreciated. Monetary donations, gift cards to local restaurants, fast food establishments, and phone cards are also needed.

However, you can call the house manager directly to discuss your situation and to check on room availablility. You should plan to check-in during regular business hours (M-F 0800-1600). Our staff and volunteers are here to provide you with a comfortable stay. We can provide information & referral to programs and agencies that may be of assistance to you. However, please realize that we are not a treatment facility, hospice or counseling center nor are our staff and volunteers trained to provide these services.

Caring Bridge

It can be difficult to keep friends and family updated on your loved one's condition in the hospital. Caring Bridge is a service that helps you with that responsibility. It gives you the ability to create a web journal in which you can quickly aleart family and friends of the latest information regarding your loved one's well-being. This is a free service sponsored by the Fisher House Foundation. Bridge the gap between you and friends and family. It's simple to set up, and it's easy to update.
