Membership Requirements

Requirements for membership are as follows:
1) The student must have and maintain a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale. A transcript prepared by the parent must accompany the membership application.
2) A test score of 1800 (SAT) or 26 (ACT) or 180 (PSAT) or a 90% on the composite/complete battery on the IOWA or Stanford nationally normed standardized achievement tests is required for ESA membership. All tests must be administered in a group setting. Parent administered tests are not acceptable. CAT scores, administered in a group setting where the parent has absolutely NO access to the test or answer sheet, may be used. Test scores should not be more than 1 year old. MAT, Woodcock Johnson, PASS, THETA, and COMPASS Tests are not acceptable. Because of National Chapter guidlines, the test score is non-negotiable
3) Only those students who meet the HSLDA definition of a homeschooler are eligible for membership. This rule states that a student must complete 50% of his/her studies at home under the direct supervision of the parent. Co-op programs, group classes, and even community college courses are acceptable as long as the 50% rule is followed. Students enrolled in public school programs, charter school programs, full-time college programs, or other programs where more than 50% of the school time is spent in the supervision of a school setting or where the public school receives 50% funding for the student's attendance or where the public school system, umbrella school, on-line school assigns the grades without parent participation, are not eligible for ESA membership. 4) The student must provide name and contact information for 2 references and submit a written essay as set forth on the Membership Application.
5) Upon notification of acceptance, each member must pay a $20/year membership fee.
Upon induction into the Zeta Delta Chapter, each student will be expected to:a) Attend the monthly meetings, and
b) Participate in at least one community service project per year.
All members will be expected to maintain the academic standards: * GPA must be submitted at the end of each subsequent school year.
