Carstens 1880 Farmstead, Inc. will hold its re-scheduled Annual Meeting, Monday, February 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Shelby Community Building in Shelby. The original annual meeting date was set for January 12 but was cancelled due to weather conditions.
An election for four positions on the board of directors will be held. Candidates include: David Dittmer, Minden; Mel Hursey, Shelby; Nick Rosenow, Shelby; and Dale Schroder, Avoca. All of the candidates are currently serving on the Carstens Board of Directors. Proxy voting will be available for those who cannot attend the meeting. Directors will be elected to serve a three year term.
“We will discuss what is in store for visitors to the farm in 2009”, says President Mel Hursey. Reports will be given on Farm Days 2008 and on-going repair and maintenance projects at the farm. Immediately following the election, members of the board will vote on officers for 2009. “I hope to see many of our members at the meeting”, adds Hursey.
Carstens 1880 Farmstead, Inc. members, as well as the general public, are encouraged to attend. Those attending will have the opportunity to renew their memberships or purchase a new membership. Memberships are important for sustaining the farm’s operations.
