Carstens 1880 Farmstead is a living history exhibit of how farming practices have evolved from hand labor to horse machinery to tractors giving visitors a look at the things that have formed our rural heritage. Our motto is "preserving and celebrating Iowa’s farm history." This happens through unique seasonal activities and demonstrations that make history and the rural spirit come alive.

Carstens 1880 Farmstead, Inc.
is a non-profit group of local volunteers which oversees an 80-acre working farm museum exhibit located between Minden and Shelby, Iowa. The farmstead is the home of Carstens Farm Days, held the first weekend after Labor Day each September. The Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
