At the September meeting it was moved and seconded that all officers and staff wear white dresses. A home talent play was presented and a Halloween Party was to be held. A leap year dance was held in January 1928. Bible was donated by Lila Minkler in February 1928. In May 1928 capes were bought for the officers. Convention was held for the first time in Edgewood in the year 1931. The following Temples were in attendance and help with work - Cedar Falls, LaPorte City, Grundy Center, Fairbanks, Manchester, Oelwein, Waterloo, Waukon, Dubuque, Jesup and of course, Edgewood. It was an all day session with dinner at the Hotel Whipple with a program consisting of unity singing, readings, vocal numbers by the K. P. Quartet and an address by Grand Chief Ada Cottrell. This was followed by dancing with music furnished by the Charles S. Todd Orchestra. The Past Chiefs Club was organized in 1938 with eleven members present.

Help in time of need, friends in a time of sorrow, Love for all at all times and fellowship for each other every day typifies Pythian Sisters and the Knights of Pythias, especially in Edgewood. Pythianism is an integral part of their life and we are richer and stronger for it.

Grand Temple Project
Camp Courageous, www.campcourageous.org, is our Grand Chief's Project this year. All people, regardless of ability level, have the right to opportunities found in the world around them. Individuals with disabilities, as well as their families, should experience year-round recreational and respite care activities in a camp setting. Camp Courageous of Iowa provides this needed service to all. The camp provides opportunities for social and personal growth within a supportive environment. Campers learn to try a variety of creative and challenging activities and experience success. Campers develop enhanced self-esteem which carries over to work, home, or school environments. Camp Courageous was founded in 1972 when forty acres of land was donated for the sole purpose of establishing a camp for the disabled. In 1973 five buildings were built from donated labor and materials. By 1974 the camp was ready for its first campers, which totaled 211. Today the camp is open year-round, has 80 acres of land with 14 buildings, and annually serves nearly 5,000 campers, ranging in age from 1 to 100. Camp Courageous was built and continues to operate on donations, without government assistance, without formal sponsorship, and without paid fund-raisers.
  Local Projects
The Edgewood Temple provides treats and/or entertainment at the local nursing home each month.

Food and support are provided at the blood drives.

During the annual Festival of Trees at Christmastime, the Sisters decorate a tree including gifts which are then donated to the Grand Chief's Project.

The Edgewood Temple also assists the Edgewood Cemetery Association during their annual pancake breakfast each September.

Empty pill bottles, cancelled stamps, used glasses and hearing aid batteries are all collected for ongoing projects, including Camp Courageous, the Lions Club, etc.
